They got it from Sindhis. Punjabi word ‘jhalla’ seems to be the cousin of this word ‘chariya’.

BTW Poongi is murli type instrument which is used by snake charmers.
The name is probably given to it because of its ‘khokhla’ shape.. as Poonga is ‘khokhla’. Now this poonga is very similar to Punjabi word ‘doonga’ which means deaep…
