Dilemma with the parties are that everyone who is ignorant and least educated is the member... these members are mentally so weak that they cannot walk or think anything other then what is fed in their heads by their party leader...

PPP is biggest example of this, no matter how low their party leader goes... doesn't matter if likes of Zardari is their chairman, they are bound to defend it, if they cannot do it logically ( which most of the time they cannot) then they just blame it and tells yes other are doing and so are we... how lame is this excuse do not matter to them...

I doubt even if the Prophet Muhammad (SAAW) comes out and tell them that this is wrong, these party-loyals will not listen to HIM (SAAW)...

its such a dodge to say that executive committee voted for bilawal so its not kingdom. muawiya got leaders to give bayt to yazid before he died, yet its generally regarded as a move that established dynasty in Muslim rulers and not a shining example of democracy at work.

what qualification exactly did the executive committee see in Bilawal Zardari in electing him party chairperson?

A political Party does not define democracy. Majority of PPP members want him to be chairman, so he became a chairman. This decision is the internal matter of the political party, aam awam cannot interfere in their decision. Its not the business of the awam to elect leader of a party.

Business of the awam is to reject or accept that leader through voting process.

Its not about revolution, its about properly minding your business and responsiblities. Republicans fielded that bimbo Sarah palin as VP of USA, and people rejected her by voting against her.

Who is stoping you to vote against this nawabzada?? Or may be, standing in line to cast your vote does not suit your status.

Which part of is it myth and which one is propaganda? When an army generals takes over likes of you protest that democracy has been derailed & one man show has been imposed. How is this not one man/woman show? When you don't practice what you preach you have credibility problem.

As for how and who elected this little punk is a joke. This kid has no clue and cant even run for political office & cant be PM until he reaches the age of 35. Until then he will be hand picking prime minsters people who have dedicated their entire lives for party cause. Its a shame that people like you don't see anything wrong with that & its even bigger shame that no ordinary party worker has any chance of rising through party ranks and running the party and the country.

Thats not true democracy either we both know very well it's democracy by reprasentation.

Hence it's only a half baked cake if the people want the whole system to be fair then everyone has to have a say...

Its all or nothing.

That maybe true, but when political parties do not have internal democracy than they have no credibility or right to claim that they represent anything democratic. In Pakistan politics center around personalities who run their parties as family businesses.

That might be true, but its the responsiblity of the public to see this and not vote to these parties.......if public will close their eyes and shun their responsiblities, then why blame these "democratic parties"..

Every political party in India, Pak, Bdesh is a jagir, a one-man talk show. These parties are anti-thesis of democratic values. A show-shaw for the gullible masses.

If the voters are illiterate villagers form Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, UP, Bihar, Bengal, the results are the same.

If the voters are educated elite from Lahore, Pindi, Karachi, Charsaddah, Kerala, Bombay, Dhaka, the results are the same.

A bhutto, Sharif, Gandhi, Khan, Altaf, Mujib etc is always a King / Queen or something in-between.

Does it mean, that we in Pak should have a general king. No!

It is just that DO NOT expect anything from the Kings, Queens, and in-between. If your road is broken, fix it yourself,

If your school has become a donkey-school, go pay more money from your pocket and hire good teachers.

If your water supply system is broken, collect money in the locality and get the water flowing.

And while you do all that to uplift yourself, do make sure to

Salute the king, queen, and in-between.

I may not win an election with 3 votes (in fact my zamanat will be zabat just like last election because I got 2 votes) but at least now I have one more vote. At this rate, I could have 10,000 votes by the time I am 110 years old. This is what we call faith, eman.

What kind of "do it yourself society" are you talking about??? People dont have resources and are too busy in earning do waqt ki roti and you expect them to build roads, gutters and pay the teachers!!!

Democracy help us in overcoming these challanges..A democratic society elects able representatives whose sole purpose is to solve issues of the society....These representatives are given a contract for 5 years by the people to solve the issues of the society....If the representatives cannot deliver, people can get rid of them anytime by dissolving the contract.......is that a bad idea...absolutely no...

It is the people who elect good for nothing reps and why blame these reps for not delivering???

Neither Pakistan or India are a true democracy… for that matter hadly any modrn government is… not even the UK or USA are true democracies…

Do waqt ki roti does require a lot of time to earn. However

one cannot stop brushing his teeth just because he is busy earning do waqt ki roti.

one cannot stop flushing the toilet just because he is buys earning do waqt ki roti

one cannot stop sweeping the house just because he is busy earning do waqt ki roti.

Similarly

one cannot stop sending kids to school because he is busy earning do waqt ki roti

one cannot stop making sure his street / mohallah is clean just because he is busy earning do waqt ki roti.

Just think

If people can have sex and make babies while earning do waqt ki roti

Then they must spend few minutes, or perhaps hours everyday making sure that those babies will grow up in a nice, clean society.

And

cleanliness my friend does not need $trillion budget. instead if we have aql and soch, then we got a good society even if you call it "do-it-yourself society".

similarly encouraging good teaching in schools does not take $trillion. The school system that produced those 100 feet tall giant leaders like Jinnah, Nehru, Patel, Ghaffar Khan, Ambedkar et al spent 1000 times less than today's schools.

AGain it is not $$ but aql that is needed to solve our problems.

And if we the pak awam ever use aql (instead of religious fundoo like emotions), we can solve our problems, despite the political kings and queens and in-betweens.

Oh and by the way "do-it-yourself-society" pov is not mine, the credit goes to naita ji (at least naita ji for Indians).

Democracy does not work in societies that disregard the laws of the land…a nation does not have to be just democratic…but it needs to be democratic republic…which means
A democratic society consisting of 4 tigers and 3 cows, results in failure…

But a democratic republic has laws, that do not allow majority to abuse their majority power, but make laws that sustains the society.

I agree with the above points, these are the responsiblities that people are already carrying out selflessly. In fact becoz of common man there is some/little stability at the ground level in the society but this does not translate into stability at the higher level.

At the higher level, there is not established system of governance that people can follow. there is no respect for the constitution or the laws of the land. Any guy with a gun can control the country.

People need to under stand the difference between a democracy and republican democracy. In a democracy, minorities have no power and protection against unlimited power of majority.

Whereas a democratic republic strictly controls the rights of majority and gives full protection to the rights of minority by implementing laws of the Contitution.

Its not just the ignorants that support PPP.

PPP is the only national party in Pakistan that does not primarily run on ethnicity to get votes.

Until we have a national party that alone, without any alliance, can go eye to eye against PPP, not only they will continue to rule the country but will also do it their way.
