This is a Mullah problem, but only a select Mullah problem... While Fazlur Rrhman is a literate man, and while I disagree with most things he says, he is right sometimes aswell...
The Mullahs we are considering here are the jahil no name mullahs who blare out this bull sh1t over the loudspeakers in their mosques... These are the guys who have never read anything besides the Koran, and think they have a grasp on the entire Universe.

The only reason why Maulana Diesel Rehman and Qazi Lunatic Hussain arent going with the flow on this one is that they dont want to come out as complete morons in the eyes of the public, especially with the elections so close.

Aalim = knowledge and education on a particular subject.
Mullah = half cooked knowledge and master on all subjects.

People need to take responsibility for their own actions. Or they need to start making their own polio vaccines so they know that they're good. Best stop jihad-training school, start chemistry class.

I;ve heard that there is somewhat of a problem in the Northern areas with illegal radio stations, they're so easily set up and used. There is at least one religious leader who intersperses readings of the Koran with rantings against USA. He;s at least a good part of the problem when he tells his people that the polio vaccine is an american plot. And to fight against the infidel yadayada. When attempts were made to shut him down, locals rallied around him and he began accusing officials and police of preventing the people from hearing readings of the Holy Koran which got the locals even more inflamed and more heartily behind him.
This is a story I've heard from a person I know up north and I do beleive he is of the highest integrity.
People need to be educated by educators who have their BETTER interests at heart, yeah? I dont know that the typical "local" up there realizes that. And the poor souls are being played like a fiddle. Its just so sad that its the new generation thats going to suffer from what they now call "third world" diseases like polio which COULD be eradicated....but the diseases that have too tight a hold on them are ignorance and corruption.

Sermon against vaccination
FIZA GHAT (Swat), Feb 21: A religious figure in a Swat village has told people not to take any preventive measures against polio ‘as those killed during an outbreak are martyrs’.
Maulana Fazlullah said in a Friday sermon: “I must tell my brothers and sisters that finding a cure (vaccination) for an epidemic before its outbreak is not allowed in Shariat.”
Incidents of misbehaviour with polio vaccination staff have been reported from several areas in NWFP and Fata recently.
