Ok if you favor the vaccine campaign, so what exactly is the american agenda here? I mean if you're saying the polio campaign is legit, does that mean that the population that thinks its an american conspiracy are under american payroll? And this news item was posted by a Pakistani paper, and is not 'illegal'.

@Spock: The Psychological Warfare intends to influence the masses through a single (or very few) sources. I am not calling the 24,000 families as being directly pushed by the US. They in their own worlds also hate that country. But that single guy, who sits in that illegal radio station, does have the backing.

Stuff like this keeps doctors and other health workers away from these areas where health care is in such dire need. I mean, who wants to go to medical school and residency and then get themselves blown up by a bunch of angry bearded men?

Those of you who are subscribing to the "american plot" theories should visit the WHO (World Health Org) website to see for yourselves the dire situation in Pakistan. Poor third world countries that do not or cannot accept the aid of WHO to innoculate against these diseases are exactly the reason that the diseases are not eradicated.

I admit people from FATA areas can be simple, gullible and.. frankly "stupid" but that's not their fault, even I admit they're like that, sometimes I don't know whether to laugh at them or to cry feeling sorry for them at some of the things which come out of them but everyone in rural areas of Pak is like that , maybe to a lesser extent in other areas.. I know I shouldn't say these things but denying realities wont help them or improve their situation..
Education is the answer, they're not naturally stupid just ignorant, educate them... provide them with the facilities this side of Pakistan is getting, make then good Pakistanis, give them reasons to be patritic Pakistanis....

Well, maybe I over react, but when you have some docter being killed for trying to help these people, it really eats away at your sympathy for them… It would be a lot easier to think of them as misinformed, gullible, and ignorant, if that ignorance didnt lead to murder…
This isnt the only place where this has happened though. Same was the issue in Nigeria, another country where Muslims felt that the Polio vaccine is a western plot to induce sterility!
Education may work, who knows… Pakistan govts plans for the FATA are all so ambiguous that you dont know what to believe or think.. But heres hoping.

I mean talk about jahil log, theres one set of jahil brigade thats saying its amreeka whose poisoning this vaccine to prevent polio, and theres one set of the jahil brigade whose now saying that its amreeka whose spreading this rumour, make up your mind!
I hope all these jahils are questioned on the day of judgement for the death of young polio victims. Oh and who killed that doctor trying to convince people to get their kids vaccinated, amreeka right?? talk about jahalat. Maybe the enlightened jackasses should say this to this guy's family:

KHAR: A senior government official was killed on Friday when a remote-controlled roadside bomb exploded in Salarzai, a village about 50 kilometres northeast of Khar, the main town in Bajur Agency, when he was returning from a jirga (tribal council) to convince people to immunise their children against polio, local administration officials said.
The blast killed Dr Abdul Ghani Khan, chief surgeon at the main government hospital in Bajur, at the scene and injured three others in his car, the officials said. One of the injured is critical, they added. “The surgeon was killed and three others injured in the blast in the Salarzai area at 3:30pm.”
Dr Amir Khan, medical superintendent (MS) at Khar District Headquarters Hospital, said that residents of Mullah Said Banda in the Salarzai area had earlier refused to get their children vaccinated against polio and added that Dr Ghani was visiting the area to allay misperceptions about the vaccination. “The locals had also warned polio teams against visiting the area,” the MS said.
Paramedic Hazrat Jamal, who is one of the three injured in the explosion, said that the residents of Mullah Said Banda were against the polio campaign. *“As soon as we reached there, an armed prayer leader warned us against visiting the area. Some locals said: ‘On one hand, our enemy (a reference to the United States) is bombing us for no reason while on the other hand you are coming here disguised as polio campaigners to spread vulgarity,” he told Daily Times at the hospital. *
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, but local tribal militants are suspected to be behind the attack. The Friday’s attack is the second since February 5 when a pro-government elder was killed in a similar fashion.
