Police has raided Geo News office and ransacked its office, manhandled the staff, broken Office window glasses and tried to enter News room. They were demanding that Geo stop broadcasting visuals from the Constitution Avenue.
Reason: National Security, as provided by the Inspector heading the raid team

Police raid Geo News office in Islamabad](Geo Middle East)
ISLAMABAD: Police entered in Geo News office building, shattered glasses and started shelling within office premises.
Large number of policemen entered in the office manhandled newsmen and other staff members of Geo News.
Policemen shoved senior journalist Hamid Mir. They baton-charged and injured several staff members. Policemen also damaged vehicles of Geo News.
Police officials also demanded closing camera coverage of protests in Islamabad.
Staff members offered resistance to police aggression to save the premises.

I am sure not if this is happening with Musharaf's knowledge or a nod and a wink from him.
Maybe some people are getting ready for a coup, or this is a message to Musharaf for not doing enough on the war on terror, and that his days are numbered?
This is the worst day for Pakistan since Nawaz Sharif ordered attacked on the Supreme Court in 1997.
Bring back BB, the defender of free press and judiciary.

^ Well if it is without Musharraf's knowledge than it is even worse because it means that the general in uniform is no longer in control of the events. But I think he knows exactly what is happening especially when he has intelligent people like his law minister around him. As for BB whenever the deal is struck and she is removed form NAB cases on the order of the general she will be back.

Durrani was actually in the Geo TV offices when this happened. Also, "The News" reporter Ansar Abbasi has been assaulted.

It is very sad day in Pakistan's history.
It is now a very growing fear that some circles who want to oust this Govt have penetrated inside agencies and are taking advantage of a tumultuous situation. Musharraf has apologized for the attack and thats the least he could do. He would do well to punish those responsible in public.

His personal image has been badly hurt because of all this and I hope he takes the best possible action against the highest authority responsible for all this instead of some low level thanedars.

^ Such attacks on press (not of this magnitude though) have been carried out before. But no government ever apologized. Musharraf did the best he could do immediately by apologizing in public to Geo. His personal image has been badly hurt because of all this and I hope he takes the best possible action against the highest authority responsible for all this instead of some low level thanedars.
