pms...a real problem?

Re: pms...a real problem?

These side effects are pretty common. Just tell your doctor and they should change your bcp. You may have to try a few before you find the right one for you. Nausea and cramping generally only last a few weeks, if it's longer then stop. Obviously dealing with headaches is no fun, so that's another reason to stop that particular pill.

Re: pms...a real problem?

hmmmm....well i was on and off on St. John wort and primrose caps and the only difference it made was that my period started 10 days before the due date, also besides the usual irritation and muscle tension I was having bloating problems 2 days before the pains but once the pains started it got better.

Re: pms...a real problem?

It takes time for hormones to balance and I don't think it would be wise to be on/off. One wouldn't do that with bcp... so take St. John's Wort in the same vein.

Re: pms...a real problem?

I've been taking Primrose and St. John's wort for 4 months now and finally 2 weeks ago all my symptoms have graduallly disappeared, and I feel like a normal human being again.

The strong BO has gone.
The suicidal thoughts have gone, still feel a bit cranky sometimes but no crying.
Food cravings are gone so will be able to lost the weight quicker hopefully.
Skin has become healthy and glowing.
And few other problems which I can't mention have gone too. :D

The only problem I'm having is the greasy hair. My hair have gone really greasy and after using loads of shampoo everyday it looks like I've got oil in my hair, could it might be because of these meds?

Re: pms...a real problem?

It's possible.

Hormones do effect the sebaceous glands.

It might be something that takes time to settle down. Try not to over shampoo and shampoo too often. I know you will want to because the hair feels more greasy but the more you strip the oil, the more the oil production is encouraged.

Re: pms...a real problem?

^thanks...shall I carry on taking the pills?

Re: pms...a real problem?

Since they are regulating your periods, improving your mood and stopping you craving, I think so.

I don't want to offend anyone but weight and hormones are inextricably linked. I think if you stop taking them now, you will return to how you were before you stopped taking them. Use this as a chance to lose weight (and I mean a decent amount) and I think you will find your cycles and mood will be normal without the need to take anything.

Excess hair, emotions, menstruation, fertility... these are all linked to weight.

Re: pms...a real problem?

definatly should consult your doc

Re: pms...a real problem?

There are things (such as certain foods...lack of certain vitamins) that can even aggravate PMS symptoms.
