If zardari goes, Naek is all set to become interim President. I think Zardari speculated that he may soon face a situation where he will no longer be able to retain Presidency, hence him putting forward his right-hand legal man up for Chairmanship of Senate.

i think hes out of cards.
he has the option of staying on as a lame duck president (which his ego wouldnt allow) or quitting. i dont think the judiciary will act against him even under CJ iftikhar and NRO etc are all safe, but its about power for these folks. Hes been undermined in his own party with the resignations by Sherry Rehman and that other guy.
the biggest positive i think is that bilawal zardari is no longer king by default, thanks to his Dad's shenanigans. people will associate him with zardari's stock, which has plummeted.

If NS plays his cards right, PML (N) can bring forward the constitutional ammendment in consenses with PM GIllani, taking all powers from president, making him dead duck in real terms... then Zardari can stay in Presidentail Palace as long as he wants...

the president should be lame duck, at the same time one must be wary of making laws for individuals. today zardari is president, tomorrow someone more human-ish may be.

Atlast, Zardari signed the summary of the restoration of CJ that was sent by Gillani last night.
