ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has recommended the name of Shaheed Lieutenant Yasir Abbas for Nishan-e-Haider and forwarded it to President Asif Ali Zardari. Shaheed Lieutenant Yasir Abbas embraced martyrdom while heading the Navy rapid force in an operation against terrorists at the PNS Mehran base late Sunday night.Of the 10 recipients of Nishan-e-Haider, nine are from the Pakistan Army and one recipient is from the Pakistan Air Force. As yet there have been no recipient of Nishan-e-Haider from the Pakistan Navy, when and if President Asif Ali Zardari confers it on Shaheed Lieutenant Yasir Abbas, he will be the first recipient of the highest military award from the Pakistan Navy.

Although i acknowledge his services but recommending him for nishan-e-haider would be unjust to the ones who have been awarded... he led a failed mission, he was not able to contain the attack and terrorist did what they wanted and left when they felt like...

Was he leading the mission? He sacrificed his life to protect us from the blunders of others. Fault does not lie with him but those who are now recommending him for this award. The guy fully deserves it.

Look at the reports about him, yesterday it was ( i think ) when i red that it was Commando of Ranger who arrived at the site and retaliated, Lt.Yasir was caught by surprise, it was told that he was talking on telephone to his mom, when he heard the blast and came out of his room to check and that is where he got shot ( got three bullets)...
I think the name of Commando of Ranger was something like Akhtar
No offense to Lt.Yasir but Nishan-e-Haider is awarded for the top most level of bravery which as per reports has not seen and most importantly it is PM Gillani recommending him and we all know how stupid he is... and if is recall the procedures right, then it is not PM to recommend this at least if not recommended by the Army/NAVY/Air-force cheif

^ I dont know about any such reports but I dont think he would have been recommended for this award if what you are saying is correct. There are 20 version of everything coming out.

very true and that is why the stupid PM should have not announced anything yet... i don't think any of the chief has been involved in such recommendation, as the recommendation for this or any other Military award have certain procedures and investigations, so far the true version of events have not been investigated let alone a events led to death of Lt. Yasir

Come everyone lets not squabble over little things. The fact is he fought and paid with his life in service of the country. What else can we ask for?
Not everyone who pay with his life get Nishan-e-Haider!!! otherwise we may have better candidates who fought with bravery and determination against the enemy in Swat and SWA, those martyrs also paid with their lives....
not to mention the Brigadier who came out and start shooting the terrorists and got shot by the terrorists who attacked GHQ...

Exactly! let it be recommended first.. but these attention---ores won't miss a moment to make a complete fool out of themselves or complicate the issue just because they are stupid

To be fair to the guy the other version is that he was the first one to engage these animals and also to raise the alarm and fought till he was shot. So which one is correct version. Lets not defame someone based on rumour and heresay till facts are known.

I agree and therfore to say "he led a failed mission, he was not able to contain the attack and terrorist did what they wanted and left when they felt like" is not quite correct when he didint lead the mission.

True, My bad
I think hanibal.. without the sacrifices of people like Yaser things would be much worse. In spite of all our failures as a nation in these testing times.. we must cherish these sacrifices. The youth of our nation desperately need heroes to boost their otherwise battered morale.. who else can we cherish more than a young attractive man in early twenties who has given his life to stop these animals..
Without Yaser and people like him, we would be in a much worse situation... If he gets Nishan e Haider or not we must not criticize his sacrifice.. It is absolutely important for us to be united in some matters which touch the hearts of our entire nation..
His mission was to stop the terrorist from inflicting maximum damage by stopping them when they had already entered the sensitive zone. He did his job by giving his life and taking three shots on his chest (not back).. otherwise God forbid things could have been much worse..
To call his mission a failure is unjust to this young man...

I have no doubt on your patriotism. I know you are bitter about a lot of things happening around us, even I am.. but let's not take them out on Yaser.

it doesn't matters to Lt. Yaser Abbas Shaheed or to his family whether he is awarded nishan-e-haider, like it has never mattered to previous shaheeds and their families too, he got what he wanted, wished and desired for, and now he is amongst the few lucky people who got shahadat. May his name always be remembered by us.

I think most of our Nishan haider were given in 1971 war which cant be called a successful mission.
I dunt think nishan-e-haider matters alot to shaheed anyway. They shld not have mentioned it that they r considering him for nishan-e-haider. I personally think he qualifies for sitar-e-jurat

Actually this was an attempt to save some moral but can not be defined good attempt.
It is very sad to see the matter of Shadi Halls attached with this incident.
Pakistan needs a combined effort from all sections of life but it can not be possible without reforms.
