PM extends Army Chief’s term for 3 years from Nov 29

Stating the obvious off course generals can be changed in the middle of a conflict happens all the time .. Lincoln went through them like Tissue paper.

What this extension does is destroy the careers of many other senior generals.

anyone remembers General Stanley Allen McChrystal?

It is evident that this govt. is unable to make any sane decision, they had been making mistake after mistake.. from trying to take over ISI to sign Transit Trade Agreement...

I don't know which one is bigger blunder as PPP govt. create new history by making even bigger blunder every time they take decision

General Kiyani, although a professional general, the man who defeated terrorists on many fronts, should have not been given the extension, I am sure there are some other good generals in Army who are capable of winning the war...

But i guess it is more than WOT, it is the insecurity of the PPP, they know that the level of corruption in their govt. by their ministers is all time high, they know the people of Pakistan no-longer looks at the PPP govt as their saviour or the one who could solve their smallest problem, they know everytime PPP says something in the benefit of the people the same minister does the opposite... in this scenario, the PPP govt. want to continue with Gen. Kiyani, thinking that he will not take part in politics and which they cannot be sure of the new COA.

Nope, it's the politicians and the feudal class that have ruined this country, generals only intervene to save this country from them :)

No wonder when army takes over, a huge majority of people supports them.

Let this current "democracy" work for another 10 years and we'll see how many people will want army to take over.

Re: PM extends Army Chief’s term for 3 years from Nov 29

^^ thats exactly is the plan...

Landlords, Traders and Industrialists have ruined the country, they only look for their own interest and people of Pakistan are already sick of them... if today somebody throw them out of power, i don't think there would be much of the resistance or any dis-likes from the masses...

Generals did pretty well until they were joined by these land-lords, industrialists etc... i hope if this time they do it, they just get rid of these suckers once for all

I personally think this was a wise decision; kiyani is a thorough professional, and this is a real tough time for the country; and he is needed to complete the job!

Ah, I see Army propaganda has worked well on you.

Sure, politcians have harmed to Pakistan.

But the Army has been running Pakistan directly and indirectly since 1947, thus the Army bears far more responsibility than anyone else.

In addition their promotion of the most corrupt politcians, and not allowing a flourishing and developing democracy that would allow a natural selection of genuine leaders, has caused the country so much damage.

We could also add the fact they are responsible for the Taliban monsters killing throughout the country.

I could go on, on, and on...

Re: PM extends Army Chief’s term for 3 years from Nov 29

^^ Ur politicians was the cause that generals even thought of getting into power... if only you can come up with committed political leadership then there will be end to military dictators.. otherwise... people need no propaganda they need to live and eat ( basics which are taken away from these politicians), and people can make out that the political leadership is not even looking give them any relief... check the level of corruption... your beloved political leadership has broken all time records...

Re: PM extends Army Chief’s term for 3 years from Nov 29

Obviously, you don't know much about the history of Pakistan. Generals have been in control of the country directly or indirectly for most of its existence, and they get huge share of economic pie along with all the other goodies. They broke up the country, destroyed its institutions, and when find it convenient, joined the same feudal/industrials class that you detest, to help them rule the country. And, no huge majority doesn't support these crooks. Just check out how the last dictator was chased out of the country like a traitor that he is.

Oh, yea, I remember how milk and honey was flowing under Mushrrafs rule. There was no corruption, mismanagement, killings, etc. It all started when the elected govt took over. The problem with our people is that they have no patience. The democratic institutional governance of the country takes time & it takes time for the system to work. Nothing happens overnight.

and right their you compare Pakistan with USA. Good joke !

There was less corruption, less mismanagement, probably equal killings. So democracy wins? :bummer:

If this is what you think, you need to learn what democracy is.

In real democracy, the change is immediate. Only results come late.
Leaders look, behave and work like insaan kay bachay, not like looters and rapists drinking and partying in their palaces.

Its like letting dacoits enter your house and let them do everything and hoping they do some naiki while they are in your house.

if i compare what politicians has done in last 3 years, Mushy's era was era of Honey and Gold ( only in comparison)...

My theory was that this time all the politicians have learned their lessons, they have not to compete anything but to worsts of Mushy's era, it was easy, it was do able.. but the democratically elected govt. has totally failed to deliver anything and the evils of Muhsy's era seems to be blessings...

can't you see that the problems we are in, 80% of them are created by the politicians... they create crisis after crisis, they show no planning or determination to solve..

democracy require time, can't we wait for a decade or two elections ?

:rotfl:

there will be no democracy. what bubble are u living in? the world is changing at a fast pace. wake up

Bull****! This was done AGAINST the wishes of Ghaddari, and on the insistence of the GHQ. As much as I hate that no good Ghaddari, this once again proves that the Army is very much meddling in the affairs of the country. And leave it upto Firenze to think that somehow means democracy is strengthened :smack:

why don’t you just live in lalala land of students of devil (commonly known as Taliban) - and leave us alone?

make sense ?

i still believe democracy needs time at least a decade, even we have to live with goons like current PPP/MQM/PML-N ..

by the way, if his term wasn’t extended:…

nothing make sense coming from you.. a bit too much wine drinking for you! take a break.
