i forgot one very important advantage.
your daughter will grow up a lot more confident, where she wouldn't be confused by living her day to day life (school/college) with people who have different approach to life, than what she is being taught at home.
no offense to anyone, but i have noticed that the kids who have grown up in america, might be very good education vise, but personality vise they don't seem as strong. that is just a personal opinion, please don't kill me for saying it.
**Pakistan like anywhere else has its good and bad ......you just need to know how to strike a balance and consider what your PRIORITIES are !
I'm assuming your gonna be coming back to Peshawar........so situation wise right now things are delicate politically however saying your gonna be blown to pieces here is a bit of an overstatement considering the chances of being blown to pieces is equally probable whether you live in Lahore or Karachi over other parts. Pakistan is in the middle of a political and economic crisis. Like Dad says , if your gonna death is predestined so your really can't runaway or hide from it , then why stop living !! And that is the general attitude here , people go about their day to day living rather than locking themselves up at home out of fear of unknown !
Now from where your standing that really doesn't affect you much.......in spite of the situation in the country people are living here , comfortably and even luxuriously and with access to every kind of amenity if they can afford it financially . You say you belong to a well off family so i'll assume you would have access to those.
You can live at a much better &probably higher standard as compared to what you described in the UK ......I would rather my husband was working at a well off and respectable job if he has the qualifications for it and where he gets job satisfaction than force him to live in UK as a security guard . It will not only affect your living and spending standards but be mentally healthy for him and your relationship to let him feel the "man of the house" than what your forcing him to feel right now (considering your past posts )
On a lighter note.......Awesome food , awesome clothes , maids , drivers , cooks and a chance for the kids to know their relatives and learn to live in a desi society...

true but i won't walk into a bomb factory knowingly or voluntarily. life is a sacred trust. one must protect it the best way he/she can.**
do you ride car??? i heard car accident has one of the highest death rate, much higher death rate than the rate of death in bomb blast in pakistan.(please don't quote me, i don't know the statistics. i am just trying to make a point, but i am quite sure that i am right)
I wouldn't live there even if I was a millionaire!! My own family have an excellent standard of living but that's not what life is about. People live in a bubble , society is not equal or multicultural , whereas we in the uk are far more open minded and tolerant, being brought up with people from all walks of life. Women are much more independent here, we can follow Islam yet also feel free to work, study, do things for ourselves rather than relying on men or maids. Cleaning and nannies are not an advantage, they teach your kids that it's ok to be lazy and pay other people to do your dirty work. Would miss wearing clothes other than shalwar kameez without being thought of as begarat, that would be so boring like imagine never wearing your uggs ever again??!! People also have an excellent standard of living even if they like here in the uk! Not everyone lives in a cardboard box, your kids can go to the best private and grammar schools and both of you can instilled in them that with hard work you can achieve anything wherever you live. Yeah it's harder to live in a mansion and drive a Ferrari here than if you go back home and daddy has set everything up but personally I'd never want to live off people as then your always obliged to follow their rules and way of life!! The way I see it, work your ass off until your 50 Nd retire in luxury! I won't have to worry about bombs and my kids safety, you just can put a price on that.

Agree with everything u said but apparently sitting on ur backside all day whilst someone else waits on u hand and foot is a plus for some people.. You wrote everything I wanted to say but didn't have the guts to :( Also, for those who want an 'easy' life if ur rich in Pakistan u get away with almost anything (but not so good if ur the victim, obviously).

u missed many points, people in Pakistan lives in caves... they still don't understand how come anything can be pulled without donkey, horse or ox... they often wonder about the pants which have no place to put NARA...
They only hire nannies and servants because they don't know how to do the chores.. for that you can only blame the west, which never allowed them to learn.. thankfully west have learned their lesson and is taking necessary measures to increase the cost of living so that people should stop using nannies and servants...
Seriously, i don't know which PIND you call Pakistan... maybe from the remote villages of Sialkot, Faisalabad, Gujrat etc, yes their most of the women wear shalwar qameez only... to bad if you have only seen that Pakistan and have visited bigger cities only when you have to board a plane...
There is no advantages or disadvantages of living anywhere... it is all mind games, remember most of the Pakistanies living overseas left they home country just to make some money so that they or their families back-home can have good life... the 1st generation who left Pakistan only to the reason of finding decent means of income still miss their country and nothing in the world can replace it..
same would apply to you, you, maybe born and brought up in UK/USA it is like 1st home to you, you are use to it, you have developed certain taste which may not be the case in Pakistan... you are now used to cold and cloudy weather and snow, which is not the case in Pakistan.. don't know which city you are going to settle in, but City Lahore have all the four seasons in it and Karachi is bit humid through out the year... snow can be found but only in the northern areas...
It is not about the advantages, it is about the mind-set, if your loved ones want to move back, then that is what the whole case is about, you must be looking forward to activities you are going to take part in...
Lol the funny thing is, all the people listing the advantages of living in Pakistan will never dare to contemplate the thought of them moving back there. HA! The hypocrisy i love it. :D
What hypcorisy? Its you who's being overly judgmental. Its not like she woke one day and said right I want to go Pakistan. She made a committment in all her hosh o hawas, tried to get away with it but seems like she has no choice, so might as well start seeing the bright side of things. You never know most of might "dare" to go back to Pakistan if we find ourselves in the position as the OP.
Hey people from abroad - We don't see much open-mindedness and tolerance in any one of you. The amount of hatred is amazing.
If bashing us Pakistanis & our country makes you feel better about your lives then more power to you! We understand that you are so much better than us in all aspects of life be it spiritual or material. Please, do read and try to understand what hanibal is talking about.
You will suddenly have lots and lots of "friends" from UK/US etc. (ie. people who want u to buy stuff for them :D)
but in all seriousness, my time in Pak was, for the most part, very great....better than past trips I would say....coming back home was such a change..

accidents are accidents...can't happen anywhere. i'm sure given the car/people ratio more ppl die in car accidents in India and Pak. i don't know the statistics myself but lemme tell u...i know several people personally who have died in road accidents in india and pakistan while none in the western world that i know of...so u can infer ur own conclusions. thanx for ur input Yanzala Ji. :)**
