Sure, you should go for a sherwani, especially if your wife-to-be wants that. Keeping height part aside, no bride would want her groom to not look nice and if she says you should wear it, it means you are going to look nice in that.
As for the height concern, someone suggested wearing boots - that can be an option, as long as you wear a shalwar instead of a choridar (which is currently in). With Choridar, you’ll need to wear kussa, but instead of going for something off the shelf, get one custom made with the size of heel you are comfortable with.
