Re: shopping in Dubai...

Hi there,

Ive been to Dubai and can advise you on what kind of shops to go for - depends on your budget - i mean there's the Meena Bazaar, they even have Sheetal, Dream Girl and Roopam there which have good indian gear.

However it depends on the type of stuff your looking for, i.e. revealing tops or more covered-up stuff.....u will find that they dont always have the up-to-date stuff in as they're trend of fashion is different from ours...btw u are from UK, i assume?

They do some good shalwat outfits and choori pyjamas which kind of start of from around £30 onwards, which are reasonable as nowadays u cant get a decent suit in UK for you warri/dhahej for less than £50.

So, wat kind of stuff are u looking for, as not all place do fishtails - and the ones that do, you'll find that the material they use is not all that - like brocade, i dont like brocade for fishtails as it doesnt give a good cut.

Tell me more where your from, your price range, how long ur in Dubai and wat type of outfit style your looking for?? Ill adviise you further...

Re: shopping in Dubai...

where are the mods here??? i think i should be a mod.. image 3 needs a good cleanup...please move this thread to bazaar please

Re: shopping in Dubai...

I went to dubai last year and I found most shopping malls quite expensive ...nothing is cheap! A part from the slight discounted gold items...go to pakistan instead.

Re: shopping in Dubai…

CM2000: The malls in Pakistan are more expensive than the normal “bazars” in Pakistan as well. The same thing applies to Dubai. I wouldn’t call the prices at places like Naif, Deira and Meena Bazar cheap either, but at least I’d say they are reasonable.

Aashi sahiba: Somehow I must have missed the thread where you announced that you are getting married. :hoonh:

Anyway, as you might now I have moved to Dubai myself and would suggest you make a visit to the places I mentioned above, ie Naif, Deira and Meena Bazar. Compare prices and do negotiate. Try to appear like a Dubai resident and not like a tourist, that should help you to get better prices as well.

I’m not sure about Naif and Deira, but I know for sure that there are quite good tailors in Meena Bazar. For the stitching of a normal, simple suit they charge 15 Dirhams, ie 2 quid. But for a shaadi suit you would obviously have to multiply that amount accordingly.

When are you coming to DXB?
