eeek… So it turned out playinf chess is totally haram whether there is an element of gambling in it no. Who else knew it? Atleast I didnt.

After all these fatwas I wonder if there is any halal kaam i’ve done in my life.. :smack:

didnt a saudi grand mufti say not so long ago that the earth is flat, sun revolves around earth etc.? who appoints these people? what are their qualifications?

All these Grand and Super-grand muftis should be lined up and punched in their faces. They have nothing better to do than to issue fatwas .... but I guess I shouldnt complain, after all issuing fatwa "is" their bread and butter. Fatwa nahi issue karen gay tu halwa kahan se aay ga.

The ironic part is that chess is overwhelming popular in entire ME region and people from all walks of life are pretty much addicted to it. I'm guessing this fatwa may not be liked that much.

Ok so u do admit he is a fool. Fair enough.
Basically IMO it sends a very wrong message over the board. Entire world will laugh actually that its a freaking game nothing more nothing less. There are far severe issues to talk about.
As far as betting or gambling is concerned, which game we cant do it on these days? So its silly. Thats all. Otherwise I dont see a reason to disrespect him at all.
