Thanks for posting, used to think exactly like this until I fell for my best friend, never did or will do anything about it but my conscience does not feel god about it, from experience I can say better to avoid temptation than to overcome it.

Maybe it had to do with the intimacy that comes from being best friends with someone? In the link, I think he’s referring to more social/hang out friends with whom you may discuss serious topics about the world and your life, but possibly end up hanging out in groups.
