planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

hello,

so i am getting marrid in 4 months time.

my fiance and I want to delay any pregnancy for about half a year to a year.

we have discussed the various methods of contraceptions and the one we agreed on was the pill however he seem extremely warry of it due to side effects. If the pill is not suitable for me then we would go for plan B which is withdrawal. (I am extremely sorry for the blunt topic but this is for health purpose really).

Now, i cannot discuss this with my mum and my sisters are against the pill as they say it has too many side effects and would mess up my hormonal balance.

I need to see a GP but no sure if is the right time for this or if i should wait for after marriage?

what sort of questions should i ask?what should i dicuss openly for a fair medical advice?

i am suffering from acne lately and i generally am a very hairy person , will the pill affect my skin prior to the wedding if taken soon? I dont want to detoriate my skin even more and the hear the ‘i told you so’ from family or fiance.

those who are married, please suggest the way forward.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

The pill will help with acne and excessive hair. Talk to the doctor now. You can discuss the side effects with the doctor.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

I didn't have any side effects with the pill, except a little bit of nausea sometimes. im not sure if that was due to pill or not. i just couldn't remember to take it everyday. you should ask the gynecologist, there is many methods of contraception. i would say to ask the doctor before you get married so you can learn about contraception prior to having sex.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

the prolem here with my nhs surgery is that is extremely hard to get an appointment for anthign not classified as urgent/emergeny. Should i tell the receptionist i need an appointment with the gp for family planning? and a gyne should be through gp referal. last year i had a intimate issue and the gp refused to look deeply into me as i was a virgin and did not refer me to a gyne for the same reason as i should not have any foreign instrument inserted in me.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

i would recommend using condoms. easiest method. no need to worry about remembering to take pills, mood swings, side effects, etc.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

none f us are comfortable with this idea during the initial stage of our marriage :(

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

why? i dont understand. if you can talk openly about other methods i think this should also be discussed. there are so many varieties, types, etc that can work according to your likings and needs (ie- skin thin ones, if thats the concern).

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

oh no i dont mean not confortable talking about it...we did discuss all methods known to us.
but this is the least favorite for the frst few weeks.

but i will discuss everything with the gp hopefully.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

LOL. like i said before there are many varieties to address that concern. look into lambskin condoms. btw- you won't even feel the difference (and neither will he with those!)

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

yes ask for a doctor/medical professional to help you with family planning. make sure to tell them all your health issues, so they can guide you towards best form of birth control for you.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

Withdrawal is a very iffy method. You shouldn't be relying on it to prevent pregnancy.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

It’s a condom, not a garbage bag wrapped aorund the ____

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

^ lol

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

I agree. you don't need to see a doctor for it, you don't need to have a prescription, easier to remember, no side effects, 100%effective unless it rips which is very rare never happened with me.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

ahahah i chuckled so hard on this LOL

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

Errr withdrawal isn't a very safe contraceptive method at all. The pill actually helps with skin and hair issues as it regulates hormones if you get one with an androgen blocker. But you should see a Dr. Especially if you have acne and facial hair issues as you may have PCOS.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

Oh and not sure what your problems are with condoms. If he's been a good Muslim boy he wont miss what he's never had.

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

^^Agree..

I'd be shocked if you DIDN'T get pregnant whilst using the withdrawal method.. esp if inexperienced..

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

Yes definitely talk to a GP. Some GPs have a separate family planning clinic which may be staffed by nurses rather than GPs, but they are well trained to give advice. They will also be able to get you a prescription for pills if needed. Don't wait till you're married to do this!!

Re: planning contraception methods ahead of wedding

each their own personal choice and liking i guess. but so far our liness are not based on experience but on the imagination of how it will be all. my personal opinion is that i think it will kill the romance lol
