Last Christmas I gave you (one of) my heart ![]()
…imagine two out of sync hearts.

You are imagining two hearts in series. What if they work in parallel and independent of each other?
English please

Then we would need some sort of a barrier to prevent blood crossing into 'other' heart's territory and given the fact that we has some 60,000 miles of veins in our body, it would unnecessarily complicate things.
Being a Pakistani, I would be more interested in two stomachs :D
Now imagine.... two brains out of sync. ;)
Re: placement of our body parts
You dont consider liver vital?
Only for a liver
Re: placement of our body parts
My cadaver had situs inverses, i thought it was cool
This is what I read: blah blah blah blah blah blah

Yeah, I had that thought. Sometimes you can feel your heart pounding when you're nervous/scared....imagine if they were two of them fiercely beating away. Or even two of them at different rhythms.
Also, think of romantic literature and art as we know it; it's always depicted with one heart that beats an one heart to break or to steal. How do you factor in two hearts? Or a total of four hearts...if you count the two your SO has. Sounds odd doesn't it? Not nearly as poetic.
Re: placement of our body parts
6 blahs for 5 words don't compute. Blame this on open source

Your logic is all gassy. Must be eating too many pakoraas. ![]()
Do you need barriers for your blood to get oxygen from your lungs? The same way blood flows through two lungs, it could flow through two hearts

Awesome.
Re: placement of our body parts
The problem is that heart is not a purification device. It is the pumping device. The blood doesn’t simply flows through, it is pumped and I think it would be much complicated to regulate 2 hearts instead of 1 [possible, better but complicated]. I think 2 circuits would make things simpler. Ask Doctor Who.
One theory is that vital organs like heart, brain, stomach, etc. were developed earlier in evolutionary stages and other organs were developed later and therefore later technology allowed us to have redundant parts.
Re: placement of our body parts
Pump and dump.
Re: placement of our body parts
I wonder that most of our vital organs are two in number. Why do we have just one heart?
heart comes with extensive plumbing. I case of second heart, you would need bigger body to fit all those veins.
In case of injury person would more likely to die, because now they have more places whey they can bleed to death.
Heart has some fluid dynamics too, he is the only boss pushing blood around, in case of 2 hearts still one heart would decide the flow.
Or they would start pushing each other.
Humans can and do survive with two hearts. Not much of extra plumbing or huge body is required.
(Following is mostly cut and paste )
There are humans with more than one heart. This is thanks to the medical development of a “piggyback” heart transplant operation that*adds an extra heart as opposed to replacing the original. The latter continues to function at a lower pace in some cases.
Re: placement of our body parts
Without going into "our sewage system and entertainment system share the same plumbing" joke, share if you could think of any part of our body that could ideally be placed elsewhere in our body, or could have a different form or fit.
I wonder that most of our vital organs are two in number. Why do we have just one heart?
No, the way we were created is just fine.
“Were” was an interesting choice of word, as we are no longer what we were, anatomically speaking.
We still carry at the end of our spine, what is called a tail bone. It’s a small boney protrusion which suggests that we had a tail once.
The goose bumps that you get when you feel cold, or when you are scared, is the reminiscent of a built in defense mechanism that our body had. These bumps are where the fur was attached to our body, and in times of danger, the goose bumps would make the fur standup, made us look bigger, kind of like what porcupines or bears do now in times of a threat
So we are no longer what we were. Not that i am suggesting that we have a potential to grow another heart.

Well I'm not implying any such thing. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't change anything in the way we've been created.
