placement of our body parts

Without going into “our sewage system and entertainment system share the same plumbing” joke, share if you could think of any part of our body that could ideally be placed elsewhere in our body, or could have a different form or fit.

I wonder that most of our vital organs are two in number. Why do we have just one heart?

Re: placement of our body parts

You dont consider liver vital?

Re: placement of our body parts

^ ek dil is liye k ek waqt meN sirf kisii ek ko hii dil diyaa jaa sake. agar do dil hote to:

ek "Sanam" kii taraf khiNchtaa to duusraa "oye Rabba" kii tareaf:

Ghalib ne farmaayaa thaa:**

ImaaN mujhe roke hai to kheenche hai mujhe kufr
Ka'ba mire peechhe hai, kaleesa mire aage**

That is why I said most, not all. Yes liver is a vital organ. Brain is the most vital of all though :D

Re: placement of our body parts

and, spleen and pancreas?

Re: placement of our body parts

We were given: Two hands to hold. Two legs to walk. Two eyes to see. Two ears to listen. But why only one heart? Because the other was given to someone else. For us to find.

Re: placement of our body parts

spleen isnt exactly vital. nor is pancreas. but vuttabout branez?

The most scientific agent argument I ever heard

According to many lists, pancreas and spleen, both are vital

Re: placement of our body parts

I was just thinking about that shair by ghalib... used to wonder if he had doubts about his own imaan... well.. its a discussion for a different thread

Re: placement of our body parts

Thats profound!

I wanna know about one brain now.

Re: placement of our body parts

I think the short answer is: redundancy where needed.

I understand that part, although in terms of eyes and ears, that more if a defense mechanism. Depth of vision and surround sound (possible by two ears) are needed to tell us which direction and how far the predator is…

… but then why the redundancy was but given to heart?

Re: placement of our body parts

Maybe because having two hearts might complicate or impede the various systems in the body. Maybe having one is more efficient.

In surah Ahzab (verse 4) Allah says that He has not made for any man two hearts. The word man is used literally cuz a pregnant woman will have two hearts. Pretty meticulous isn't it? The ayat may not answer your question, but it came to mind after reading the thread topic.

Very nice reference RV. I must say I am impressed.

Re: placement of our body parts

heart, brain etc are pretty well-protected in the thorax/cranium, poking at them isnt easy. chances of damage from accidents is relatively lower as opposed to damage to organs like skin, limb bones. therefore lower repair, maintenance, regeneration. also, cost of maintaining a second heart or brain? dat stuff be espensive. brain eats like 10% of our energy cost.

Re: placement of our body parts

If we had four feet instead of two and if all four had been shaped like hands we would not need cars and there will be no pollution around us. Why all fours shaped like hands because I want to enjoy my finger foods.

Re: placement of our body parts

...imagine two out of sync hearts.
