Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

Anyone who suggests such a thing is an idiot, dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghat ka.

You made my blood boil, the Arabs are our brethren but we are equal to them, they are not superior to us, why the hell should we name our cities after them?

Time and time again I’ve proven that Sanskrit is a Pakistani language and not of Indian origin rather the Indians acquired it from our regions a long time ago.

Those that freed our country from British rule in the name of Islam were idiots for trying to promote Arab-o-Persian culture in the name of Islam, Arab cultural imperialism is not required by Islam.

Natural cultural evolution and fusion of cultures is inevitable but forcing unnatural cultures reeks of inferiority complexes…

Language whether it be Sanskrit or something else is separate from religion, it is the liturgical language of Hinduism just as Punjabi is the liturgical language of Sikhism and Arabic of Islam but Muslims speak Punjabi and Arab Christians and Arabised Jews speak Arabic so we can maintain Sanskrit without adhering to Vedic beliefs…

I know plenty of Pakistanis who have Sanskrit names, especially in the rural regions.. It is only the urban folk (usually secular) of Pakistan who think they are being modern by having unpronounceable Perso-Arabic names because they confuse foreign culture with Islam…

Arabic names are beautiful but they shouldn’t be adopted due inferiority complex but rather for closeness to our beloved ones such as ‘Muhammad’ after our wonderful Prophet :saw: or ‘Ali’ after Ameer ul-Momineen :as:/:razi:..

The Persians were once Non-Muslim but when they became Muslim they maintained their names (even other Muslims started adopting them e.g. Parvez, Sheereen, Mahtab, Aftab), they even maintained their pre-Islamic names for Allaah such as Khoda, Ahura-Mazda, Yazdan etc.

Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

As for "abad" I'm sick of the "abad" sufix.. Once or twice would have been fine, it gets a bit repetitive after that... City names such as Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Lahore etc. sound far cooler.

Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

The Sanskrit language of Pakistan and Persian language of Iran are related and descend from the same ancestor hence the similarities.

Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

Go go go Khumar :does-a-cheer-leader-dance-for-khumar:

I 100% agree with what you said..

Discarding ones own culture for someone else’s is the height of kameenapun.

Arabs, Persian, Turks and other Muslim will respect us more if we respect ourselves because they will be in awe of our culture but if we start aping them it wont make us the same as them, no, rather they will look down on us more because we will have no originality, no pehchan, no background or izzat in their eyes…

In an effort to move away from Indians, we Pakistanis subconsciously make ourselves believe we are second class to to other Muslims, makes me ashamed of calling myself Pakistanis sometimes..

Hindustani chahtey hi yeh hain ke ham apni tehzeeb chorr ke auron ki apna len taake yeh hamari tehzeeb-o-saqafat chura ke duniya ke samney apni kar ke pesh kar saken, bilkul wesay jesay ab tak kartey aa rahey hain..

Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

You need a lesson in Pakistan's geography and right now. Nurpur is located at longitude 72 latitude 32. Look up your map of Pakistan.

Re: Place names in Pakistan need to be changed

This is becoming so informative and methodical thread for all of Pakistanis. Pakistanis must file a petition based on these revealing truth. We are learning a lot, city and makhan maker are different I just knew. I got the lesson already about latitude and altitude and got some attitude as well...
