Many Pakistani cities and villages still sport names that have Sanskrit suffix “Pur”. In the Islamic republic of Pakistan all such names should be changed to suitable Arabic suffixes or names. In some cases, such as Haripur, the name should be changed outright to something like Salimabad after the Sheikh Salim of Kuwait. Here is the long list of cities that need their names changed immediately.
I also feel that other countries other than Saudi Arabia be honoured if new names are to be assigned. Kuwait sheikhs have been neglected in this respect and many sheikhs of Kuwait can be honoured in changing names of these cities. Pakistan can in fact may very well receive a few billion dollars in the process
do you like a country without any sort of history attached to it? without any kind of cultural background? why in the world should we change the names of our cities after some guy in kuwait?

expato, that's a very stupid idea.. don't forget.. we are closer to ancient india ( we ARE a major part of ancient india).. than to the arab world.. just because Islam came from ARABIA don't mean we need to bow to them and show them respect.. and name our cities after THEIR sheikhs.. where is your self respect? our cities have great history attached to them.. just because the history is not islamic doesnt mean we should dump it and pretend to be closer to the arab punks.. who mostly look down on pakistanis..
Lahore-pur but my maternal village has the word -nagr attached to it. i’m sure that’s extremely unislamic too and wait a minute…isn’t there a gujrat in india too! omgosh…we should change the name of the gujrat-zila to something like sheikh abdullah or somethng immediately!!
Sorry I missed that nagar. All nagars should be changed also pronto. If the great Pakistani President Zia-ul-haq had lived, he perhaps would have done it.
