PK

Re: PK

OMG was more direct and hard hitting i hear.

OMG is one for the history books in Hindi film industry. Among other things, it took the most overexposed and commercial star like AK and made a good movie out of him.

Re: PK

I saw both and thought that PK was a better movie overall.

Re: PK

Amir Khan suing pakistani news websites for publishing a fake interview of him demeaning india and praising islam.

He has sent them legal notices and will file a complain with mumbai cyber cell once he returns to India.

Thats a low by those news sites. But they got what they want though , a contravercy involving hindus and muslims in india.

Re: PK

Which news website is that?

Re: PK

not sure, media is not talking about them but it is reporting that it has happened. There are screenshots of interview available though.

Re: PK

I have noticed the same trend on Facebook. Everyone seems to think that the movie is somehow pro-Islam. It makes me laugh.

Re: PK

The best part of the movie was the 1st 30 min

Re: PK

Oh, yes, yes. Virka.

Re: PK

^ almost correct

Re: PK

Why did they only focus on the Tapasri? I wish they had deleted some of the useless songs and put in some more stuff related to the Jimmy Swaggert types or similar ones from all religions that sway and misguide people in the wrong direction. If the basic message of the movie is that people should form their own connection with the Almighty, then why not involve all these rich tapasri types from all religions?

The movie was cute but there is room for much improvement.

I don't get it. Why did that last 5 minutes make you want to shout Pakistan Zindaaaaaabad? Did I miss something in the end related to Pakistan?

Re: PK

True, this is the biggest complaint I have about the movie. Even though it claims a universal message, the examples were all related to Hinduism. I am guessing politics played a part in it. Nevertheless, the message that the movie portrays is meaningful.

Re: PK

I'm not saying that the movie was bashing Hinduism, it wasn't, I was only talking about the fake god men that go around acting like the voice of their religion.

Re: PK

Re: PK

Got it. But I am saying the movie was bashing Hinduism more than any other religion.

Re: PK

I thought the main goal of the movie was to say that no human should tell us how to make a connection with our creator and that people should make their own connection with the Almighty. It also attempted to say that religions divide us along with those fake god men. What do you think?

I think the makers of the movie figured that Hindus in India would be where the west is when it comes to religion. India isn't ready for a movie like that. The movie is no different from how South Park is with Christianity but South Park is extremely disrespectful and yet American Christians don't take it seriously. I don't see Christians going out and saying that South Park secretly supports Muslims which would be BS like some people are saying about PK. That would be so idiotic.

Rudefell, Pompfrey and Creek!

What parts were insulting to Hindus?

Re: PK

Finally got around to see this film. It obviosuly had its pros and cons, but I especially liked the "thappa kahan laga hay" remark. At birth we all belong to no religion.

Pakistan needs such a movie as much as India, where people are told in clear cut words to cut religious fascism out. At the end of the day, we are all human beings, its completely irrelevant whether you believe in one religion or another, or no religion at all. What matters is whether you contribute positively to society or not. Religion is your personal matter only.

That is precisely what I felt it was conveying too.
