I haven't seen the movie but i feel like older actors like the Khans do these roles to have a younger image and keep up with younger actors. They have a massive fan base so whatever movie they do will do ok business. It's like 55-60 yr old guys who buy porsches to appear younger and impressive.
This is a general rule of thumb in Subcontinental commercial cinema. You won't be able to have the song and dance sequences with a male lead who is portraying the role of a middle aged father of two :)
Also all male leads are generally confined to so called character roles once they hit 50. Female leads only last to about 30. Hence why 40 something male leads are paired opposite 20 something female leads.
Commercial cinema of the subcontinent is a rather pecuilar creature.

Never thought of it myself. But couldn't have said it better myself.
Hopefully with movies like PK and Ugly things are changing and we'll have less repetitive masala movies.

It has a story of an Indian girl falling in love with a Pakistani guy. Like Ali Zafar's movie Aman ki Asha
PK is name of Aamir khan's character i think.
I think it has story of Indian girl liking a Pakistani boy.
This is just one of the side tracks in the movie. The principal story line is much deeper.
Just saw it a couple days ago. Good movie, with a good message, but definitely overhyped.

The overall concept is universal, but its difficult to fully appreciate the finer nuances of this movie unless you are from North India :)

There was a movie with same message as PK named as OMG and it was not given that much importance because it didnt had Amir in it
