This is a general rule of thumb in Subcontinental commercial cinema. You won’t be able to have the song and dance sequences with a male lead who is portraying the role of a middle aged father of two

Also all male leads are generally confined to so called character roles once they hit 50. Female leads only last to about 30. Hence why 40 something male leads are paired opposite 20 something female leads.

Commercial cinema of the subcontinent is a rather pecuilar creature.

Never thought of it myself. But couldn’t have said it better myself.

Hopefully with movies like PK and Ugly things are changing and we’ll have less repetitive masala movies.
