I haven’t seen the movie but i feel like older actors like the Khans do these roles to have a younger image and keep up with younger actors. They have a massive fan base so whatever movie they do will do ok business. It’s like 55-60 yr old guys who buy porsches to appear younger and impressive.

This is a general rule of thumb in Subcontinental commercial cinema. You won’t be able to have the song and dance sequences with a male lead who is portraying the role of a middle aged father of two

Also all male leads are generally confined to so called character roles once they hit 50. Female leads only last to about 30. Hence why 40 something male leads are paired opposite 20 something female leads.

Commercial cinema of the subcontinent is a rather pecuilar creature.
