i was wondering if the pitta hua dabkey ka kaam (as these shopkeepers call it) is in or out?

dabka itself is not a pitta huwa kaam…dont make a total dabka jota…mix it with thread work, beads, sitaray, ribbon work and love the result :wub:

its the name given to this kaam as its origionaly dabkey ka kaam and once its done they hammer it to settle it somehow dats y its called pitta hua dabkey ka kaam

pitta is "in" and "the thing" in Karachi nowadays. There are some beautiful designs roaming about. :)

i don't think it's the same as dabka ( not sure). It's a completely different work ( at least to me). But i am no expert and hardly know about such things.

pitta is supposed to be beaten hammered down , it looks stunning but is quite expensive , not like dabka at all…

but yeah I saw an HSY replica with it :wub:

thats very different from dabka, isn’t it? it almost looks like a cutwork gold patti, not like kaam at all.

it is definitely not dabka as i wrote in my earlier comment. It is not like cut work either. It is very different and unique. Not a lot of people have the taste for it though.

I am not sure if the posted link is of pitta work. Also the karigars I work with use nakshi for bigger patches and dabka for small swirls for pitta work. This is a close up http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/124546/333.jpg

thanks eastern......I'm afraid that I want something even closer up.....maybe about 6 inches away from the embroidered patch.....

this is an example. the silver portion you see in the cloth is the pitta kaam. please note that this is not the original colour of the dress, i have saturated the colour to make the silver show. the original colour of the cloth is beige-ish.
