I heard the name a lot in 90's but do not know what his political actions were back then and in 2000's, Just curious why many of you calling him a good man?
He was spokes person and loyal to dictators. Most of his life spent on conspiricies and coalition with intelligence agencies, ready to work against elected governments and also work as b-team planted by the army. Otherwise there is nothing outstanding he did in his whole life, which is praise worthy. He was biggest feudal lord and exploiter of poor farmers of his area.
May Allah forgive his sins and rest his soul in peace.
and why not. He appeared to be a decent guy unless you know otherwise about him
Because I do not consider myself to know-it-all person and truely wanted to know about this person and his past, and thanks to Saleem's and sachaydino's reply below I have learned something about the guy.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaehi rajiun ... It was a sad news.
No doubt Pir-Pagara was a good person surrounded by many corrupts and incompetent politicians. His father fought British and died fighting, hanged by British (not like others who became paid servants of British for allotment of lands and privileges). Hurs fought British for over 100 years, actually throughout Sindh was under British occupation, and never negotiated or surrendered. Just to make Hurs stop fighting, British took him hostage and moved him to UK where he stayed as hostage until early 1951 when Pakistan got him back (few years after independence). It was his men (Hurs) who are over million strong armed men fought Indian forces in 1965 and not only defended Sindh but occupied large tracks of Indian land. His men helped Pakistan fight off Indians in 1971 war too.
Anyhow, as the slogan ‘King is dead, long live the King’ ... so can be said about Pir-Pagara ... that is, 'Pir-Pagara (Syed Mardan Shah) is dead, long live Pir-Pagara (Syed Sadruddin Shah ... as I expect him to be next Pir-Pagara)'.

Was he different from what your wisdom mentioned above for the feudal lords like Pagara? Is it not the truth he had tons of slaves working on his thousands of acres lands and on properties? What is that? The height of hypocricy ya phir magar mach ke aansoo.

If he was that tyrant how come he has such a loyal following in the name of Hurs of Sind.
May be you are basing your perception of him based on stereotyping , since he was a landlord and so powerful , he must be bad guy.
Do you know him intimately or know something which I do not . Do you have any documentary evidence of his tyrant nature ?
I did not write anything in my posts you quoted that contradicts each other. If you read my post carefully you will know what I wrote, that is:
Rural Sindh is exploited, deprived, and underdeveloped because voters elect those (feudal landlords) whose interest is to keep the area underdeveloped and keep the voters exploited and deprived. That means, it is not fault of those they elect but it is fault of voters. As for elected, they just safeguarding their interest.
[For harm due to poison taken willingly, one cannot blame Poison (elected) but should blame those who take poison willingly (voters)]
In other words, if there is anything good about Pir pagara and his background, we cannot ignore that, regardless of him being feudal landlord and spiritual leader of many. As for him or people in his party exploiting and depriving the people who support and vote him and his party, then that is not fault of Pir Pagara but it is fault of supporters and voters who instead of voting someone from themselves (equal in status and financial means) vote rich and powerful feudal landlords.

I copy and paste your post #75 in another thread, Go read your response. Pir Pagara was powerful feudal lord and he did exactly what you have mentioned above. Again this is height of hypocrisy.
Are you comparing your dabba pir of landan sharif? He is urban feudal lord, perhaps you will praise him exactly what you are praising pir pagara now.
Now that he is dead, can we use similar amount of money availed to him by govt for treatment for less privileged?
He is dead now. I hate to say something on this issue. I have heard parent of child had appealed to people to donate money as their child was terminal sick. Instead of spending money on 90 years old, who would have ultimately died, was it not humane that such amount would have been spent on the child to save life????????

I always read whatever I write, know what I wrote, and I am sticking to whatever I wrote. It is not my fault that you could not understand what I wrote. Just to make things easy for you to understand, I am writing again.
Even though I consider feudal lords, tribal leaders, and rich industrialists who exploit their poor voters as Parasites, I do not hate them. These Parasites stick together and safeguard their own interest and interest of their children. They have every right to do so.
I only feel pity on those who are poor and exploited but worship these rich Parasites, believe on all BS promises they make to them, and in election vote them expecting miracle that these rich parasites would not exploit them but would serve them against own interest.

Inna lillah e wa inna elaihi rajieeon, guys it would be better if we could keep this thread to the death of Pir pagaro, we can use some other thread to discuss what he did or did not do for his people.
inna lillah e wa inna lillahi rajeoon. Sad for the loss of his family members. Happy for the poor who were dictatored by him. Now he can drink as much alcohol he wants in "JANNAT" and have hoors bow to him in jannat.
...Just curious why many of you calling him a good man?
probably for the same reason we might call a dead comedian-cum-fortune-teller a good man?
reports about his "talk-to-press" used to be the most entertaining piece of news among depressing papers, definitely a great loss...

Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaehe Rajioon
Allah Altaf Hussain ki bazla sanji qaim o daim rakhe.
PS: Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaehe Rajioon for Pir Pagara.
No comments for his personality, because I have read some slogans written on walls of rural Sindh, which I can't post here (although I do agree to those slogans).
