Re: Pir Pagada passes away
I heard the name a lot in 90's but do not know what his political actions were back then and in 2000's, Just curious why many of you calling him a good man?

There have been lots of controversies surrounding Pir Pagara. He is not a stranger to dodgy acccounts of his rule or whatever you wanna call it.
Re: Pir Pagada passes away
Still yaar, he is gone. Why do we have to discuss those dodgy accounts in his death thread.
Re: Pir Pagada passes away
I completely agree, no point dissing him now. Too late for that one.
I just think we should extend the same courtesy to everyone who dies, not just certain people.
Inna Li'Allahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'oon.
Re: Pir Pagada passes away
I agree to that too. At least in their death threads. Later on we can discuss the controversies they were involved in.

He has gone on his own path, we must look to our own and steer towards a better destination.

Re: Pir Pagara passes away
Inna lillahi wa inna ilaehi rajiun ... It was a sad news.
No doubt Pir-Pagara was a good person surrounded by many corrupts and incompetent politicians. His father (spiritual leader of Hurs) fought British and died fighting, hanged by British (not like others who became paid servants of British for allotment of lands and privileges). Hurs fought British for over 100 years, actually they fought throughout with British when Sindh was under British occupation, and never negotiated or surrendered. Just to make Hurs stop fighting, British took him hostage and moved him to UK where he stayed as hostage until 1951 when Pakistan got him back (few years after independence). It was his men (Hurs) who are over million strong armed men fought Indian forces in 1965 and not only defended Sindh but occupied large tracks of Indian land. His men helped Pakistan fight off Indians in 1971 war too.
Anyhow, as the slogan ‘King is dead, long live the King’ ... so can be said about Pir-Pagara ... that is, 'Pir-Pagara (Syed Mardan Shah) is dead, long live Pir-Pagara (Syed Sadruddin Shah ... as I expect him to be next Pir-Pagara)'.
