Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
but problem is that pictures that have been pasted on wikipedia have face hmmmm
Ah... I didn't scroll down far enough to see the others. Now that I see I blame the Persians :p .
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
God Guys!!
1. Are the pictures authentic or just some fake?
2. Are these pictures portraying our Prophet (s.a.w) or some one else actually?
3. Has anyone of you bothered about the source of these pictures to be valid?
Why then fight with each other on IF pics are allowed in Islam or not?
Lets all do the home work first!
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
I did some calm thinking on this and cannot understand following:
1) Since he was a man, what's wrong if his face was painted?
2) How is his case different from all the trillions of people's pictures even the jihadi religious nuts have?
3) Aren't you all curious to know what he looked like? Any normal person would be!
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
I agree.
Someone just portrayed what is described in our books.

Peace All
Actually it stems from two types of interpretations:
1) The making of images for the use of worship is forbidden, but images themselves are not, but are considered reprehensible nonetheless.
2) That the making of any image is forbidden without condition
The matter is not going to be settled in this forum so it is best that it is avoided as well as painting the picture of Muhammad (SAW) that too should be avoided.
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
^ that would be just hiding a issue instead of openly making it a non-issue that it is.
Common sense tells you (and you have stated it in your #1 above) that images are not prohibited. So why is painting an imahes reprehensible?
Answer is - it simply is not wrong.
In fact making it wrong is against islam since that would mean you are elevating the prophet to somethIng other than human.

Images of any living thing are generally frowned upon in Islam. The hadith that states angels do not enter the house in which there are images of living things and dogs, means there are essential blessings being missed on account of dogs or images on display. Please note, I did not make it forbidden (haram) I merely indicated that there are two opinions both of which have strong evidence in their favour. What is certain is the imagery of living things is not the character of the pious household. You can make of this what you may ...
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
it's a simple drawing, no one can tell if our prophet (PBUH) looked like this on the pic...get a life retarted people...
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
Psyah - how can you mix up hanging pictures of living and the inclusion of drawing on wikipedia?

Exactly, these are two separate issues.
So many muslim households have pictures of living beings, and there's nothing wrong with that. Whether it was a picture of a pet, or appreciation for nature, or even a friggin Anatomy text lying on your bookshelf!
This sort of thinking is intolerable. Should I be throwign out my anatomy textbooks to fit your category of having a muslim household, psyah?
Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
another ridiculous topics
hey guys that picture was drawn in Persia in the 15th Century and someone uploaded
I have seen that picture hundreds of times.
I even have it in my Encyclopedia Brittanica

Peace Sister
Please don't assume you know my household and please try not to be abusive ... I was merely pointing out 'why' the problem exists throughout this thread I have not given my personal stance on imagery.
Of course I will never sanction the throwing out of your anatomy textbooks.
When I say 'peace' I do mean it.

Re: Picture of Hazoor PBUH on wikipedia
I agree, we dont allow pictures. We're not blowing up the WIKI data center, asking nicely by petitioning to take it off.
Sticky this.
and no matter how old picture is and who and where made, but we don't need it! PERIOD to be published anywhere publically!
although I had no courage to see pictures, but a lil glimpse and I shut my eyes off, I am very angry!
I signed the petition already!

I'd like to start a petition against those who censor information because of their ignorance.
