So how did you come to an agreement on picking your wedding date?

What kinds of things did you keep in mind?

What happens if you wedding date is too close to your “monthly vist” …

did you take any pills so you would not have an “unexpected vist”?

unfortunately, in our family, you don't get to decide the date..your parents and your inlaws decide it...

i don't know how it's in your family..but if you have a say in this, then you should say something..if not then atleast let your mother know if it's too close to the monthly visit or whatever..i dont know about the pills though, it may have side effects..

Its not that big of a deal to wait a few days if your periods do arrive during the shadi unless you have really uncomfortable ones. No one asked me about this because frankly we had otehr issues on hand, e.g., inlaws arriving from Pak and how long they could stay etc. This was teh least of our worries.

my sis in law asked me about my monthly thing...then considering holidays, when ramzaan starts & availability of halls! so thats how we got to 8-8-08

about the monthly thing...even though my sis in law asked me...cos i went to pakistan it messed up my cycle so now im due to be on on the wedding day aahhh so i went to the docs cos i dont want to b on on the wedding day... she prescribed sum pills..which i will get closer to the time..it allows u to prelong ur date x

awww, ladies, if you're on the pill you can just keep taking it, i.e. finish one 3 week pack and start on another immediately. thats what i ended up doing, but yes, its more about the bloating and the bad skin than the intimacy i think, when picking a wedding date. we picked ours based on the weather, the perfect long weekend, and when my parents would be here in toronto.

We picked our date based on availability of the hall. But alhamdullilah the date July 6 ws also perfect for my montly cycle which I usually get towrds the end of the month.

First of all thank you all you ladies for understanding my problem....I have been really worried....InshaAllah I am getting married on 8-17-08 and my monthly thing is not supposes to start until the 20th but still it seems a bit close to my wedding date.

Now aishii, what was the name of pills that the doctor prescibed you...I have an appointment with the doctor next week. Please help me out.

weather, time enough for people to arrive to as guests and family, own readiness, arrangement for all dinner and space where the wedding will take place. all of it together can give you a sense of what date and day it be to get married.

talk to the gynaecologist, she will recommend whats best-- they do have pills that can make you have your periods earlier than the date or later....

there are a lot of different kinds of birth control pills. you need to go to your doctor and discuss it with him/her. they should tell you about the kind they are prescribing and any possible side-effects from them, so that you can be aware if anything comes up and have them changed for a different kind.

Month was decided because that’s when I was free from school. Also his father, who was a professor, had a break from teaching that month as well. Available dates were 6, 13 or 20…mom had a stupidstition thing about the 13th, 20th was too late (and err… not a good date) so that left the 6th.. :wub:

re: the birth control pill, if you plan on using it to delay your period, i'd suggest starting asap, regardless of when your wedding date is. your body needs to get used to the additional hormones, and you need time to figure out how your body is responding to them, i.e. is there any weight gain, nausea, etc., so you can then switch to a different brand.

Hi All, Im getting married on the 9th Aug inshallah...and my dates were picked dependant on the hall! I didnt even think of my monthly cycle then...i shud be ok...but am scared still so may go 2 speak to Docs aswell...I think if you are interested in takign these then you need to speak to Docs as its different for every individual but I dont want to take it coz Ive heard you can gain weight and have spots from it too and it can cause probs in you trying 2 have kids later..so Im in 2 boats about it nw! As if theres not enough 2 worry abt already!

iv already been to the doc & got the prescription so il tel u wot she sed..il also get the name for u, so fikar not..

marena- aah! so cool, its so sad but i love the date...esp as iv known him for 8 yrs lol as long as we dont hv 8 kids i have nothing to worry about xx
