Picking wedding date

Ok,I’m not married yet,so I don’t really know about it,but, how do wedding dates are usually picked and decided?Do they ask the girl about it?

Re: Picking wedding date

yes they do ask the girl, to make sure the wedding date doesn't fall on her period week.

Re: Picking wedding date

Yeh they definitely ask the girl for the same reason rabia mentioned and also u r the one getting married so your schedule will have a lot to to with it

Re: Picking wedding date

you usually see when the best time everyone can attend at....especially if people from overseas will be attending. So you negotiate dates with both sides.

I believe the Spring is the best time to get married because after you get married you can travel in the beautiful weather =) My wedding is in late April, and my fiance and I have so many thing planned to do in the summer...

Re: Picking wedding date

my date was picked as to when my wedding hall was free! lol!

kia baat hy bhi shadian madian ??
mubarik ho

yes they do ask the girl first
in my case I picked the date, told my fiance and mom and then it was forwarded to the in-laws
the rest also depends on the availability of the place you want for the wedding
congrats :)

Re: Picking wedding date

how can they pick a date according to ur period???
my date was picked like 7-8 months before the wedding
n period days change all the time

Well they can TRY at least. This is how it works if your day is for instance 17th of the month add 7-10 days to that. Usually they try to set the date the very next week.

On a separate note as u mentioned I know a friend in Pakistan who once said that she adjusts her period days if she has to travel or if someone's wedding is coming. To get 'em early she would eat food that is generally hot & do the opposite to delay her periods. I know I go crazy on coffee sometimes & it works for me.

Re: Picking wedding date

^ Yup, almonds in milk will bring on your period basically whenever you want!!

Re: Picking wedding date

^ oh wow! So just warm up the milk & eat almonds with it?

Re: Picking wedding date

I don't know about all this period business, or manipulating your menstrual cycle BUT of course you have to ask the bride when she wants to marry.

The question should be "do you have to ask the groom about the wedding date?"

It's your show honey!

Just use the ovulation calender

www.**ovulation**-**calendar**.net to predict your period!

Re: Picking wedding date

^omg i did not know there were so many techniques to all this stuff haha

I grind almonds (but not into fine powder) and put them in milk and drink it. It’s my favourite drink but I get my period so so soon after it. It’s really hot. I used to drink it often and not only menstruate but have crazy-cramps with it.

But yeah, drink this a few times and voila!

Side note: I disagree with date-chosing based on the bride’s menstrual cycle. What’s the big deal if she happens to be on her period on her wedding - sure thing, the groom can wait, no?

Unless of course, the girl gets serious cramps and does not want to get married during that time, then it’s fine but for other reasons I don’t agree with it! :snooty:

Re: Picking wedding date

One of my close friends gets awful cramps during her period, so much so that one time she had to be taken to the emergency room! Supposedly there is this pill that you can get in Pakistan that delays ur period. I have no idea what it is and would never ever recommend it unless it was approved by the US FDA haha. I have the same problem, my period comes whenever it's in the mood so although I tried a lil to change my wedding date around my cycle, at the end I didnt really care if I ended up having my period on the wedding. I don't care about the groom, I'd rather not have my period cuz i want to feel relaxed and comfortable.

if you’re not on your period, you will be comfortable, cramp-free and relaxed, and gosh, can you imagine if you stained your beautiful jora!! :frowning:
normally, synthetic progesterone or birth control pills can help you regarding your period dates. talk to a gynaecologist before you try anything.
i used the first option (prescription only-- do not pick it from the pharmacy without consulting a doc first ladies):nono:

Re: Picking wedding date

oh, i forgot to mention, i picked the wedding date myself, after careful consultation with my parents and hubby. vacation days, travel availability, hall availabaility, siblings exam dates, etc-- everything had to be considered ofcourse.

Re: Picking wedding date

Oh god, not just the cramping but the mood swings of PMS! I got mine 2 days after my nikkah and the day before and day of my wedding, I was THE bridezilla anyone would have run away from. I even yelled at the Imam! Everyone kept thinking I was nervous/stressed about getting married but that was so not true. My friends, cousins and hubby were all in the suite with me before wedding and kept getting worried and giving me water :hehe:
Now for the rukhsati, I am gonna set a date that is NOWHERE even near my periods
