Here are few character found in society.
Please pick the one who is least harmful for the society and close relatives, according to your moral and religious standing
-
A person who sleeps around to satisfy his sexual urges
-
A person who (tries to ) abuse children sexually
-
An unmarried person who masturbates and satisfy sexual urges from non-living objects ( literature, footage, photographs etc)
-
A married person who commits adultry.
-
An unmarried person who tries to satisfy sexual urges from non-human but living objects ( i.e animals)
Re: Pick the odd one out
Brother, the least harmful to the society would be the one who realizes his sins, repents and don't commit the sin again no matter whichever category he belongs to. Though I understand that apparently it seems that few of the above mentioned people are relatively less harmful to the society, but it might not be like that in real life. Such people usually get so sick by such acts that later they want a change and try other alternatives with time. It can be seen from the crime reports of criminals that people who in their young age only used masturbation as source of satisfying their desires later went on to commit bigger sins such as rape. Research shows that even"An unmarried person who masturbates and satisfy sexual urges from non-living objects " would soon switch to people around him, either relative or neighbors.
In short, we never know which is a lesser sin, as in such acts there are always chance for the person to switch from one activity to other because they are looking for the "ultimate satisfaction" in the wrong place. Their example is like a thirsty person in the desert who sometimes find mirage in front of him, sometimes on his left, sometimes on his right. He keep trying to jump in them one by one hoping that anyone of them would help is satisfying his thirst, but non of them can satisfy it as they are all fantasy and illusion of his eyes.
The best solution for all the above cases is following the guide lines of the religion, as people can't know their "satisfaction system" more than their own CREATOR who has shown us the path to ultimate physical, mental and spiritual satisfaction through the teachings of the Prophets.
May Allah (swt) bless us with the strength and wisdom to follow the sunnah of the Prophet in satisfying our desires.
Re: Pick the odd one out
so dear code, what indirectly in this thread you are trying to endorse is porn because all the rest are not moral and upright in society? what are you trying to do? give people bad options and one option which is not that bad compared to the rest? what do you think people are going to do and say? obviously go with number 3 as slick_star has chosen because it is less viable to public scrutiny?
in my opinion all the options are bad and wrong, the right option would be to control yourself, repent for the already bad deeds you have done and pray you do not fall victim to people who brainwash you in to thinking that anything which is not good can be acceptable to you.
also there is a theory of communication that people will always go with those people and agree with those which have power, people will agree with number three because they do not want to be the ones to stand out and say something different.
sins and bad deeds always have attraction, more attraction then the good and in our age it is very likely for people to fall trap to all sorts of activities, it is up to us to keep ourselves strong and have faith.
like the popular saying in urdu
"is umar mai har cheez sona lagti hai"
we have to distinguish between the real gold and the plated one. go for the real one.
Re: Pick the odd one out
As for answering your question that which one is really not that harmful to society, let me tell you that those people who masterbate and watch porn i.e satisfy urges from non living objects are really sick in the mind. All the time they have these kinds of things on their minds and they are not any less harmful to society. It is these people who watch porn and satisfy themselves which go on to develop in to a much larger threat for the society in general. Those boys who watch porn etc when they are in school become a threat to the innocent girls by bullying them by asking them for favours, by stalking them and being sick minded boys. Those in university are the same as well as guys in general.
As for what my moral and religious standing says masterbation is not allowed in Islam and it is grave sin. The liquids that come out are impure only if they are being used in the wrong manner. The watching of porn and satisfying the sexual urges is wrong as well because it is ankhun ka zinaah. Masterbation is haathun ka zinaah. On the day of judgement all parts of our body will speak out and tell about what grave sins we have been doing in this temporary life on earth.
Re: Pick the odd one out
wait, i srsly remember reading somewhere that masturbation is allowed in islam......i think i read that...
Re: Pick the odd one out
Obviously any sane person can guess the right answer.
But please note that it is least harmful activity for society. I am not in any way saying that it is harmless activity.
Their are two angles of looking at it. One religious, other social.
Religiously speaking, it is a non-issue as far as islam is concerned. As I have already stated in the other thread that Islam advocates early marraige. As soon as possible, after reaching the age of puberty.** Which we, (most of the) young people of this age insistantly do not (want to ) follow !**
But on the other hand we like to condemned a resultant problem which surface due to this very reason ( not following Islamic command). It is pure 24 karat hypocrisy !!!
On non-religious angle, The person is an angel as compared to other 4.
Mind you , the people who belong to other 4 categories are rampant in our society. Each and every one of you know a few.
Just in another thread people are waay sypathetic to a person who belonged to category 1. but way critical of person who belong to category 3. It is pure double standard
Re: Pick the odd one out
then bring forward hadith? sunnah of the prophet?
because we are told to follow two things, the Quran and the sunnat and then we can refer to the sahih hadith.
if anywhere in the Quran or Sunnat there is about masterbation, you bring it forward. Anything not included in the two is not something to be followed and done.
The Qur’an, chapter 23 (Al-Muminun), verse 5 to 7: “ **“Those who guard their sexual organs except with their spouses or those whom their right hands possess, for (with regard to them) they are without blame. But those who crave something beyond that are transgressors.” **(Al-Mu’mun: 5-7)—
The Qur’an, chapter 24 (An-Noor), verse 33: “ And let those who do not find the means to marry keep chaste until Allah makes them free from want out of His grace…
And when Allah Taãla has not determined any order between Nikah and chastity, then this shows that besides these two, everything else is Haraam.
A narration attributed to Anas ibn Malik reports:
“ Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, '**The person who performs Nikah with his hands (i.e. masturbates) is cursed.
**
A narration attributed to Sa’id ibn Jubayr reports:
“ Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Álayhi Wasallam) said, ‘Allah Taãla will inflict a punishment on a group of people because they played with their private parts.’
A narration attributed to Ata ibn Abi Rabah reports:
** “ Some people will be resurrected in such a condition that their hands will be pregnant, I think they are those who masturbate.**
Re: Pick the odd one out
Thank you dear felow for bringing forward these hadiths. Now people will know that it is a grave sin to masterbate. Those of us who have been doing it, should repent and stop and those who were thinking of it should stop and repent all the same. Just thinking about a grave sin in my opinion is a sin. May Allah reward you for your efforts.
Re: Pick the odd one out
Those who are saying that masturbation is wrong. I agree with you :k:
Those who are thinking that all boys and guys can stay well and healthy without masturbation or sexual intercourse, you are terribly wrong.
Some guys can but most can not.
This is natural function of body. A person becomes sexually active after reaching puberty. Those who are more active need some outlet. The best solution is to get married.
Now please share your views :
If you are not married yet, will you go for marraige as early as possible ?
Will you ask / recommend / advocate early marraige for boys and girls around you, in your social circle ?
Would you advocate early marraige of your siblings , and pledge to marry of your off-spring early on ?
If the answer is yes then I commend you for being honest :k:
If you dont agree with the above then you are like a person who is asking people to stay away from the wall because it is damaged and it may fall any time, at the same time you do nothing to repare the wall.
Re: Pick the odd one out
It is better for men to get married as soon as they reach puberty but if they are not able to marry due to any reason they can stay well and healthy without masturbation. The solution is given by the prophet in the following hadiths:
"O young people those among you who are able must enter into marriage. For it helps to divert your attention from women and it is a safeguard against lust. **Those who cannot marry must observe fasts for fasting too is a safeguard.
** *[Hadith of Al Bukhari & Muslim on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masud]
The Prophet once said to us, 'O young people! Whoever among you is able to marry, should marry, and whoever is not able to marry, is recommended to fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power.
In another place I read that fasting kills the desire of lust. But one should also consider the following hadith
According to Jarir Ibn Abdullah when he asked the Prophet about a man's gaze falling inadvertently on a strange woman, the Prophet replied *'Turn your eyes away'.
*
[Hadith of Muslim]
I agree that there is a natural function of the body. A person does become sexually active after reaching puberty. Those who are more active do need some outlet, and if they don't have a spouse to satisfy themselves, then the process of release itself happens in sleep. What we need to do is follow the guide lines of the Prophet for the situations where we don't have a spouse to satisfy our desires. If it were not possible for a common man to remain well and healthy without masturbation, then the prophet (saw) would have not condemned this act in the hadtihs I mentioned in post # 11.
Re: Pick the odd one out
As far as masturbation is concerned there is difference in 4 sunni sects about it. There is one which considers it permissible (not sure which one), 2 consider it forbidden and a sin, while Hanafi consider it makrooh bordering on sin.
Re: Pick the odd one out
Some one please explain to me the practicality of this hadees.
O young people those among you who are able must enter into marriage. For it helps to divert your attention from women and it is a safeguard against lust. Those who cannot marry must observe fasts for fasting too is a safeguard.
[Hadith of Al Bukhari & Muslim on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Masud]
Volume 7, Book 62, Number 3:
I understand that if someone is fasting one will not perform any sexual activity because it will invalidate their fast.
But sexual activity can resume once , one breaks his/her fast . Normally sexual desire arise in the dark of the night.
One can control sexual urges by avoiding any kind of pornographic material or any kind of sexual stimulant during their waking hours , but nobody has control over dreams , if one sees an erotic dream and one wakes up with unsatisfied sexual urge and one is not married, what one should do ?
I am not making all this up it happens with most of the normal human beings.
Google these key words wake up with horny and you will see tons of questions asked by people who face this issue.
If you say that this issue does not pertains to Muslim youth , I would say you are naive. I was born and raised in a Muslim society and I know all about how Muslim youth feel and behave.
Why am I raising this question ? Because you are trying to associate guilt with very innocent activity of masturbating which harms nobody , but gives an outlet to Muslim youth to satisfy their sexual urges in peace , quite and privacy instead of resorting to some criminal way of doing so. If you associate guilt to such an innocent act you will turn a normal human being into thinking that he/she is worthless, criminal. He she will loose self respect and those who have no self respect will have no respect for any thing else.
Think again do you want to raise a whole generation of this kind of youth ?
This issue is bigger than you think.
2 is the worst coz hes destroying some childs life,i believe all of them need therapy asap but no3 wuld be least harmfull
Re: Pick the odd one out
Fasting does help in many ways. Like Doctors say that too much consumption of protein and carbohydrates makes a person more sexually active. Through fasting we can control and limit our food which helps in limiting appetite for sex.
Because you are trying to associate guilt with very innocent activity of masturbating which harms nobody but gives an outlet to Muslim youth to satisfy their sexual urges in peace , quite and privacy instead of resorting to some criminal way of doing so.
Brother, let us not use the word innocent for an activity which the prophet (saw) didn't encouraged or allowed.
I am not going to go in details of the medical effects of masturbation on one's health, it would be easy to Google it. Anything the prophet (saw) disallowed was later proved by science as harmful for health. If we groom ourselves according to the sunnah of the Prophet (saw) there wouldn't be any need of masturbation. Though I don't like to display my deeds, just to give you an example, I recently got married at the age of 27, and Alhamdulillah, by the grace of Allah I was able to spend my bachelor life without using this act, not even once. In sleep the process happens itself in accordance to the needs of one's body after a certain time depending upon a person's body. I agree that at times the desire is too intense, but the solution to such problems are the teachings of the prophet (saw). More Zikr, protection of gaze, fasting and other religious practices helps us in gaining control over our desires.
We don't need to ask the practicality of an authentic hadith. Allah and the prophet (saw) know better than us. It is our duty to find out ways to implement the ways of the prophet (saw) in our lives than finding excuses for the forbidden acts.
As far as masturbation is concerned there is difference in** 4 sunni sects** about it. There is one which considers it permissible (not sure which one), 2 consider it forbidden and a sin, while Hanafi consider it makrooh bordering on sin.
You meant 4 schools of thought, right? I'm not sure if it's permissible in any school but yes in Hanafi school it's makrooh or makrooh tehreemi. Allahu Alim.
