"Pick of the Oscar speeches" Michael Moore (Merged)

It was very shocking as we all saw Michael Moore just insulting the American president and its led war on Iraq. How many of you do support Moore as he spoke yesterday night? If not then any one of you thinks that it was totally foolish of Moore to have spoken in such a rude manner?

I personally think he did an amazing job to express his thoughts and opinions over this American led war. It was certainly very shocking to hear such comments but you probably noticed that there were more people there who applauded his speech than the one’s who totally booed it and thought it was very rude of him to speak of such stuff.

We live in a time where we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons. Whether it’s the fictition of duct tape or fictition of orange alerts we are against this war, Mr Bush.

Shame on you, Mr Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up. Thank you very much

“We live in fictitious times,” he said when picking up the award for best documentary for his anti-gun film “Bowling for Columbine,” Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported Monday, March 24.

“We live in a time with fictitious election results that elect fictitious Presidents,” he said referring to Bush’s controversial 2000 election victory. "We live in a time when we have a man sending us to war for fictitious reasons…

Michael Moore is such a sham. His documentaries are agenda-filled ambushes of easy targets. So little context to his message. They are really not documentaries at all. He typifies the sloppy, slovenly obese American that posters like Thap find so objectionable and he hates himself for it. He was an outcast loser most of his life and has spent his adult life railing against "the system". His films employ explore no complex emotional issue, he mereley scripts and edits together "real" looking situations. He discovers nothing new, nothing deeper in these films. Michael Moore is spoon feeding his scripted drivel to a lazy, uninformed mass who live their lives according to a script that has been layed out for them. The "Stupidest White Man":
Michael Moore.

…it was very rude of him to speak of such stuff.
Rehaan, isn’t it strange that SOME individuals actually thought it was “rude” of Michael Moore to make his statements during the Oscar night? When is an appropriate time to make these statements - when all the civilians have been terror-bombed? After the invasion is over and everyone pats themselves on their back for a job done jolly well?

Incidentally, Bowling for Columbine was “the first time” a documentary had won best original screenplay in the Writers Guild of America’s awards. In the 55 years that the Guild has been giving awards, no documentary had ever won. (Source). Back in December 2002, it was also voted “the greatest non-fiction film of all time by the international documentary association.” (Source). Not bad for a man so dismissingly described by some.

I like Moore and he had every right to say what he said and the crowd had every right to respond, be it positive or negative. His film was deserving of the award.

The contra from a very sane man indeed, storch!

Nothing new nothing deeper? If the system doesnt change from 14xx til now
how should his scripts change?
America is what it was 500 years back. There is no change and was no change. People have changed but not the system.
Micheal Moore is one of the less people in America who have their eyes wide open!

Who is he? Sounds like someone with balls. God bless him.

Academy Awards

Michael Moore's acceptance speech

On behalf of our producers Kathleen Glynn
and Michael Donovan from Canada, I'd like to
thank the Academy for this.

I have invited my fellow documentary
nominees on the stage with us, and we would
like to — they're here in solidarity with me
because we like nonfiction.

We like nonfiction and we live in fictitious
times.

We live in the time where we have fictitious
election results that elects a fictitious
president.

We live in a time where we have a man
sending us to war for fictitious reasons.

Whether it's the fictition of duct tape or
fictition of orange alerts we are against
this war, Mr. Bush.

Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you.

And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie
Chicks against you, your time is up.

Thank you very much.

Indeed it was a screenplay, carefully choreographed and executed to get his particular message across. Look, I liked “Roger and Me” a lot. These are movies and entertaining and thought provoking at that. I happen to fully aggree with his message of gun control. But don’t tell me this is documentary film. And for effectively getting his message across in a way that provoked thought and entertained he should be lauded. But his movie in no way should be regarde as wholly representing the truth of the subject matter he films.

Alright, well, fair enough. That is your personal opinion. i disagree, vehemently. As UnderTheDome has stated, Moore had a right to make his comments last night. That’s the greatest part about democracy isn’t it - we all get to rant (as long as we don’t hurt someone) regarding issues that we feel are important.

i think it took guts to say that - if anyone wants to thank him (or criticize him), here’s his website: http://www.michaelmoore.com The “Contact” section has all the relevant e-mail addresses.

I never spoke to the issue of whether he had the right to say something. Of course he did. I just find him to be something of a charlatan when it comes to his films. He is grandstander and showed it during the Oscars. I just think thinking people should not take his message to be the Gospel truth about an issue and can seek the real truth in a number of ways. As I said, it’s not really his message on gun-control I disagree with.

loved it!!!

Man I love this guy, love his guts.. only yesterday this name was unknown for me and now .. Michael Moore deserves the peace noble prize .. the best prize of this world ...

shame on you mr bush(butcher)

The issue here is if it was proper of him to speak about the war and the American administration. I think he directly insulted and portrayed the president as an evil ruler regardless of why he was there. I really admire the guy for standing up of what he has to say and letting the world know of his beliefs and views regarding this war.

^ isn’t it funny. Until yesterday his name was unknown. hahahah! He is the new Noam Chomsky of policy making. I am surprised he is not heading up the Brookings Institute. :rotfl:

I think his credibility is at issue if he wishes to make this statement in front of such a large audience. His movies reveal no real "truth" nor do his opinions.

I can understand that at this stage at least someone had to stand up and speak against inequality and the extreme aggression that the Iraqi people are facing. To be honest, I just thought that it was very foolish of Moore to just start bashing out words against the American administration in front of various movie super stars. Its like hmm you know you are there because of a reason and your job is to just fulfill your objective and then just simply move out of there. I think he should have just received his award and move off the stage. There was absolutely no need of such anti-war talk since you are in a different environment.

On the other hand, when I see how hypocritical American government is, which does include a lot of American citizen.i.e. all these movie stars who were there for their own joy and to have a good time. Whereas, there are millions under attack! You know there was absolutely no reason for such award ceremony when you know that your country is engaged in an unjust war and simply just don’t give a damn about anyone else. Putting that idea into perspective then it does kind a make sense that whatever Moore did was absolutely right. He just wanted to let everyone know that regardless of why we are here there is surely something more important than this going on in world, which happens to be totally inhuman. So this was indeed very brave of Moore to speak up and not caring where he was and of the implications that could harm his status among his colleagues.

damn u CH, i dont know every bill and jack and from hollywood :snooty:

Chalta hai no wonder that this person was not familiar to you.
And still you are brave enough in admitting that you are from another galaxy called NY.
Courage you have. GOD BLESS YOU! :k: :hoonh:
