PIA VS EMIRATES

i know alot of people have opened the threads to ask the guppies opinion:D well i am traveling to pakistan with kids,i have traveled on both the airlines.but its 2 years before .so now can anyone give me their fresh reviews (who has recently traveled)which airline to prefer for pakistan?plus one more thing someone was telling me that if i buy the ticket 6 months earlier i ll get it cheap..is that true:konfused:

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

I would recommend Emirates hand down.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

i prefer PIA, simply because its the only one offering the shortest transit period (from USA) and thats a priority for me, travelling with young kids. u get off (in manchester), do the security check thing, get some food, eat, and its time to board. no sitting around, waiting, with exhausted and cranky kids. i hear emirates has a loooooong transit in dubai on the way back, some ppl might like that but not for me.

the service has really gotten better with time on PIA, i flew alone a few times with kids and the staff was very considerate in watching the kids if i have to go to the loo and they held my meals for me till i had fed the kids and they were asleep. very professional but with a nice touch of 'apnapan' :) and yes its a little cheaper if u buy earlier rather than last minute, not to mention that you get good seats the earlier u book (u pick urself) esp if ur going for bulkhead seats, otherwise the good ones are all taken quickly.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

well i am going from toronto to lahore:D last time i travel PIA didnt have a stopover ,it was a direct 13 hours flight to lahore:hmmm: is it changed now??how are the planes and do they treat economy class good:blush: cause one of my friend told me that she asked for a 2nd meal for her kid and they said MADAM YOU ARE IN ECONOMY CLASS ,WE CANT SERVE YOU SO OFTEN.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

PIA - their Canada / USA service is unbeatable
specially if you are travelling with infants or small kids

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

PIA going from US/CAN to Pakistan is still nonstop and is absolutely the fastest way to get there. Whether you leave from Toronto or JFK, you will arrive in Lahore/Karachi under 14 hours.

From Toronto-Lahore/Karachi

From New York-Lahore/Karachi

PIA does serve a stopover in Manchester on the way back to U.S. and the transit is really smooth, just enough time to clear security and stretch your legs for a few minutes, then it’s time to board the plane again.

In terms of service, PIA’s European/US desinations are served well with their newest fleet of 777s, and the crew is polite as well.

Here are some cabin photos of the Economy class onboard 777-ER/LR variations.

I would probably travel PIA simply because it offers the most direct flight.

PS: Booking in advance is always a good idea, and it locks in the rate in case the price gets hiked a few weeks/months down the road. And the Airlines change the price often according to their own chart of High/Low Season.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

^ finally a direct flight from USA! yaayyy! and Sheen, generally the staff is pretty generous with food, esp for kids, they used to get me snacks for them after their naps (without asking!) and yes it was economy :D

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

a special hug for teggy:hugz:

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

PIA.... first of all Non-Stop,, and then I have learned from various sources that PIA's US/Canda service is much better than the rest of services.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

^
i have also heard that most of the time the flights are delayed:hmmm:

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

Emirates' service level is probably still better than that of PIA. Having said that I'd still choose PIA if I was flying from the US, simply because I'd always prefer direct flights over flights with stop-overs. Even more so when small kids are traveling with me.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

I just flew Emirates from Europe, the service was good, they even took pics of the kids and gave it to the parents but the stop-over of 5-6 hours in Dubai was too much, I would also prefer direct flights but we don't have any from here.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

You should have stopped over at our place then. :-)

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

Jee thanks but it was night time and we all too tired to do anything.

Maybe next time in 2 years, maybe then hubby has the Austrian passport, so no visa problem.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

With kids? PIA without a doubt (less flying time, better seat layout).

I have flown on Emirates but the hype just doesn't deliver. Sure the meals are better and their magazines are shinier, but the crew service is just as hit and miss as PIA's.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

I took Etihad and had a 10 hour stay in Abu Dabhi. BUT people don't know that if your stay/stop is more then 8 hours then you get Complimentary Rooms in a Hotel/ transit hotel & ALSO TWO complimentary meals . Which is really good if you don't have kids to worry about then you can go out and see the city.

I dont know about PIA but the food on Etihad Airways was really good. especially because you have choices in appetizer/entre/dessert. They basically hand you a menu.
Other then that they have a WIDE variety of Movies, Music, TVshows. etc. ( Bollywood tooo) &games etc. good for kids.

Re: PIA VS EMIRATES

well i am travelling with my kids .so i think PIA non stop flight will be better for me :hmmm: its just that people are not satisfied with it.

  1. I thought NY - Karachi was a direct flight
  2. Your schedule shows dept time at 20.05 and arrival time as 23.0. That’s almost 27 hours (?). What’s up with that? I actually checked that on their site as well, so its not ur typo.
