PhD in Sociology after MBA..

I have done MBA with specialization in HRM (Human Resource Management).. Now i want to switch my career to social Development sector.. Can anyone advise me if i can do PhD in Sociology from abroad(Sweden/Germany/Denmark/Norway e.t.c).or is it compulsory to have background in social sciences to do it?

If I can’t do it, then in what fields can I do PhD after MBA?

Neha I myself have done MBA and I would personally advise you NOT to take up sociology. Plus I don't think you can do Phd directly after MBA you will have to complete MPhil first.

Why are only looking at Phd ? why not some other course from abroad in HRM ?

thanx Diamond:)... PhD can be done after MBA.. i dunno what other courses in HRM are offered plus am also looking for stipend so i have to make my search more focused...

I think you should get in touch with those organisations that provide counselling to students who want to study abroad. Read DAWN of every Sunday for this purpose. It is full of advertisement from such organisations.

in dollars....and when u get admission abroad, they keep all ur important documents unless u pay them heavy amounts…

Stop going to institutes and learn what you want.
Only issue you would have to face is if need expensive equipment, which will not be the case since its not a natural science.

hahahaha…while living in pakistan and getting involved in social services will only give me knowledge about how to “cool down” people (electricity problem), how to convince them they will return home safe (suicidal attacks) and again how to convince them to avoid eating more of roti, cheeni and drinking less water(due to shortage of it)
