I wanted to talk about something very alarming happening in Pakistan. Every other person you talk to is so pessimistic about Pakistan. Even with all the “good” economic figures by the government…majority of Pakistanis in my view are sick and tired of this country. Ask any young person in the street, he wants to go abroad. …O jee yahan kutch nahi rakha…" etc…
What will happen to a country whose people feel like leaving it. So much for the love of the country, patriotism and Pakistan Zindabadism. I think its all about the musical chairs thing happening in the political scene, the non-existent justice system and maybe “na-shukri”.
Laeeq, Walekumsalam & Welcome back :)
You're right that the average person wants to go to Amreeka or "Baahar" but I feel sometimes its just a trend, you know, "bher chaal", and since that is what has become the fashion people say that, its just a craze.
I have friends / relatives who have master degrees in engineering there in Pakistan, but worried about getting respectable Job. What should they do ?
Do we have a job market in reality not in our imaginations exist in Pakistan to absorb all those who spent almost half of their life to become someone ?
Its all economical competition. If someone is abroad and doing well and living very comfortably in Pakistan, all other relatives gonna try their best to do the same. Its all economics now. Its a good and positive change.
The foreign exchange revenue generated by Pakistanis living abroad are much higher and helpful in the long run for pakistan.
Govt figures about economy no doubt are true or may be,..but we don’t see the impact of this good economy at lower level mean poor people yet.
Until it happens then may be people have second thought to leave Pakistan.
Indian are all over the globe in every country of the world and helping India economically as much as they can. Like in USA ,…Indians are 2.1 Million plus,..while we pakistanis are like 750000 only. In my view more and more skilled and highly educated pakistanis must come out and help Pakistan. When the job market situation is good in pakistan then they may reconsider at that time.
I think its good thing for those who come outside and work, to make good future of their families and live free from financial worries.
You are right Irem,
Everytime I come to Pakistan,..I have so many relatives who have only one question,…Can you help us to come to US ? They think as I am working for US State Department.
Although its trend and cattle drive, But still its good to have more Pakistanis working abroad. Makeing a positive change economically for their loved ones. I have seen here in US,…some pakistanis who even can’t speak english are having their own bussinesses and buying properties, setting up industeries in Pakistan and creating job markets for the poor people in that area.
Its good thing atleast we are competing in a positive way. Like India when Pakistan has some incentive to offer to skilled Pakistanis then I’ll be the first one to offer my services,..Now just LIP SERVICE,…means nothing .
^remember, Pakistan was made in the name of Islam? If true, pessimism should be declared 'haram', and ppl committing this should be publicly hanged. 40% reduction of population and avg increase of happiness.
This really worries me. With the softening of ‘borders’ between India and Pakistan, I am worried that many illegal Pakistanis will try to settle in India, and try to take advantage of the growing economy and better standard of living.
Thats a new one going to India hmmm. I dont think that will happen though
Well i see both trends in Pakistan really. I know extremely educated people wanting to go abroad and people wanting to come back to Pakistan.
Also i notice a lot of students are now more keen on going to Malaysia etc rather then going to UK or USA. Infact the number of Pakistani students applying for admission in the US universities has declined so much that they are now offering a large number of scholarships to students—just to make more students choose a university in US.
I too am sick & tired-----not of the country but of the people who exploit this country.
BTW,..If you check the Stats,..India has more than 400 Million people, who are living even below poverty level,…We must be worried now,..that Indians will be coming to Pakistan illegally…
I agree with Tough Tweety that its the people who are ruining the country that people want to run away. A country can only be strong when they have a strong vision and direction. Unfortunately we lack both.
What I have noticed is that people who rule us are bringing issues that were already solved so long ago, like what should Pakistan be---secular or Islamic. It really confuses and disheartens people. I have talked to many and most would say that all rulers come here to eat and party.
Well...I would give credit to Musharraf for being better than the previous ones in many ways. Nobody is perfect but atleast he could set an example of simplicity. Ofcourse he has no magic lamp that would solve people's problems , but basic human need like access to justice is so very improtant.
News of a girl being gang raped ...(mukhtaran mai and now nazish in sialkot)...is so disturbing. I am sure everyone would agree without doubt. Why is it that after every such incident they have to appeal to the President or Prime minister. The latest victim was even raped by the police. What the .....Such crappy system of justice?
Just remembered....I read in a newspaper,,,a few days back a rapist was flogged and then hanged publicly in some Iranian city. I wonder how satisfied the mothers, sisters and wives of that country would be. In the middle of the city square such punishments would be sending strong signals to anyone who even dares to think to rape soemone. and tehn we have our Pakistan where the police also rape the victim. Words cannot explain the depth of injustices in Pakistan.
^ stupid ppl like u r the reasons, why pakistan is backword.
It is the ppl who make up the country. When stupid ppl clap for dictators, and raise slogans for publicly hanging and flogging rapist, then it is u sho should be given basic courses on civilization and social education.
Last but not least, Pakistan being secular or muslim: Alive nations discuss about their origins and future all the time. Nobody gets disheartened by that. Only stupid and dictatorship loving ppl do.
Have you heard the paraphrase"elephant tusk" (Haathi kay daant khanay kay aur …aur dikhanay kay aur). People talk and jump a lot to demonstrate fake patriotism and nationaism but in reality if today, America, Canada and England open their borders, the entire population of Pakistan would leave the country…what a double-standard society?
RVikz,
I know,…population and other stuff,..If India couldn’t stop it before,…when it wanted to,..what’s new now,…?
If India had its way,…they could have stopped it long time ago,…they can’t,..As I said before…Internationally Pakistan and India are locked in so many agreements,…don’t you know that ?
