It is gold embroidery with sequin work.looks very nice in real .the lady she got it from have same in yellow colour (perfect as a mehendi outfit) .

Niksik pretty much all the bollywood actresses (where the trend started) are short. Take a look at madhuri, rani, both short but both look good in them.
