Re: Peshwaaz/Anarkali Dresses
^ true!..i am getting a peach and orange one made...with an empire waist...and pearl buttons going all the way down my back...the top has pearls/square diamonites works...with full gathered sleeves..the churidar pajama is off white..since the material has a gorgeous sheen to it...it wont require any added embellishments...dupatta is 'chuna' with tiny kiren all around..and small goti/pearl flowers all over...cant wait to get it...... :)
Really nice!!! Wonder where one can get them from....
where can you get them from?
Re: Peshwaaz/Anarkali Dresses
I saw thse really gorgeous anarkali outfits at a boutique in Jackson Heights..i mean they were heavy and just beautiful, like bridal-heavy. and then the aunty said they were actually lenghas (the way it was hng on the hanger made it look liek a pishwaz) ![]()
I know Pishwass is fiitted from the waist but the empire waist and anarkali looks the same to me. And ladies with curves you can certainly wear em but the choice of the fabric should be kept in mind. The flowing fabrics like shiffons and gorgetts are very forgiving and dresses made with these would look nice on heavier bodies. Skinny girls can make one in cotton chunnri fabrics. As far as height is concerne tall girls look best in these long shirts but no worries for shorter people. If worn the right way any thing can look good. Examples Madhuri and the other gilr..Amrita rao. They arent very tall but they certainly are pulling off the look.

awesome thread :)
Re: Peshwaaz/Anarkali Dresses
very nice outfits
Re: Peshwaaz/Anarkali Dresses
I have seen peshwaas' that commonly are of 3 kinds....1. with kalis .....2. those without kalis gathered where the body meets the "gher". Also, there are some without kalis and without any "chun" where the body meets the "gher". It is more like a free flowing bottom stitched with the top.
I am wondering which, of the three, would pass for the authentic/traditional Peshwaas ? I think it may be the one with the kalis, but m not sure.

Re: Peshwaaz/Anarkali Dresses
Is there a difference between Anarkali and Peshwaaz, or are they just interchangeable terms? And for the anarkalis that are in fashion nowadays, are they long in length or knee length? Are they really flared or somewhat straighter?
I've heard people say that they are wearing them with cropped pants. Can anyone post a picture here to see what that looks like? It sounds strange to me, but for all I know, it may look great!
I like this one ,Is it anakrkali ? looks more like umbrella cut?
thinking of ordering it but have a problem .I am fat
dont know if it would suit me

In the Uk we have worn anarkali dresses to death, they have only caught on in pakistan now?
This is not anarkali…
This is not anarkali...
yes it's without corset and I prefer this style as it looks better on me
my sister got some really stunning anarkali's from india for eid.I will try to post pictures of them .
Anarkali doesnt really have corset, its got the top and bottom bit stitched together in a frock manner like this but with longer sleeves.
