The bear is cute and friendly. We acknowledge each other’s friendly presence. I am not considering adopting them, nor do I feel threatened. I just continue on my path.

I am walking in a Forest that is just like the coniferous forests of my Northern homeland. The trees are all redwood and the air is full of cold thin northern air. The trees are gigantic and among the oldest in the world…
Also the tall canopy of this dense forest makes everything very dark inside the forest.
Path
The path i am following through the forest is old and not well trodden. It is the only path and leads deep into the forest. It is no wider than three men abreast and is too narrow for a vehicle… occasionally the path disapears but is easily found again, and often the path is dotted with cave entrances to a subteranean world below…
Bear
The path through the forest is suddenly blocked by the presence of a large brown bear…
The bear seems to have appeared out of nowhere, i realize that it has seen me.
The bear is obviously not happy with my presence and begins to lumber towards me.
Knowing that the bear is faster and stronger then me i take no chances and string my bow, draw back a broadhead arrow to my ear and in one fluid movement send an arrow at the beast.
My shot was aimed for it’s head but it fails and hits the bear high in the shoulder. The bear roars in pain and charges, i have time to draw another arrow and let loose before it’s upon me… seeing no chance of escape i fling myself to one side and come up in a roll… drawing my sword as i rise.
The bear stumbles and falls it tries to rise but my second arrow has pierced it’s throat and the beast falters in its step. The second arrow struck it hard and pushed through to the base of its spine. The bear gives one last shudder and dies.
I carefully walk over and take a breath as i realize the scale of my victory. I take the bears head as a trophy.
Then i walk on slowly and more carefully for theres a chance there could be more bears or even worse, wolves waiting for a lone traveller like me.
I quicken my pace to get out of the dark gloomy forest, regretting taking the bears head for the scent of blood may atract other predators. And my quiver of arrows is down to 13 an unlucky number for some.
Key
As i hurry through the undergrowth i draw my knife and dash across a clearing…
Suddenly my foot is caught in something and i trip, sending my knife flying into the bushes. I look back and realize my boot is caught in the loop of a key, it’s a key half buried and looks as old as the forest itself.
I start to pull out the key and realise it’s made of gold! And the inscription is unmistakable.
Finally i have found the key to the lost palace of Sha Ghazi! I am awestruck at my discovery… my journey through the forest was worth it afterall.
I pick up my knife and with the key in hand, and head of a bear hanging at my waist i walk on in truimph… for nothing can stop me from my quest now.
I have the key to the palace and all it’s treasure. But my journey has only just begun who knows what perils lie ahead.
