personal trainer

Re: personal trainer

You will have to show me the evidence of it that most personal trainer go through a weight loss journey.

And since you go to a very upscale gym who would only employ people who have years and years of study and appropriate credentials to train people, then most likely the fat lady too has the required knowledge and expertise.

Re: personal trainer

OP, if she has been hired by the gym then presumably she has value/is fulfilling a need. You don’t want to be trained by her, that is perfectly fine, pick a trainer of your preference. Not much point in judging just for judging’s sake.

Re: personal trainer

Also, like you said if the personal trainer has the proper education and certifications they should be qualified enough to be a personal trainer.

Looking healthy and being in a good shape is equally important, If what a personal trainer has to offer a client is effective, why can’t he/she implement it ? This thought will run through the head of any potential client who sets eyes on an out-of-shape trainerr. in fact, it is the first thing the potential client will think after meeting tthe trainer.

And guys im not asking for a Victoria’s secret model as a trainer. Just a healthy trainer who has all the knowledge about fitness and who is in a good shape too. Thats all I ask for and believe it or not fortunately or unfortunately, appearance in this business helps to sell their services.

Re: personal trainer

I had a yoga instructor a few years back and she was a heavier woman, someone who upon first glance you would assume could not teach the class (it was a power yoga, so not for the faint of heart trying to keep up with the movements and poses).

OMG - she was amazing! Her flexibility was out-of-this-world and she put the rest of us to shame.

So moral of the story, someone physical fitness is not always a function of their physical appearance.

Re: personal trainer

I guess it comes down to what you want to believe.
Either you want to let your eyes and superficial senses take control or you want to use your brain and engage logic to determine whether or not this woman is capable of providing you with the guidance that you need to reach your fitness goals.

You can judge her on her physical appearance and see that she is not in the shape that you expect her to be in or you can use your reasoning abilities and see that she has been vetted and hired by an institution that you trust to deliver a specific service most likely based on her years of training and credentials.

Pick the group you want to be in.

Re: personal trainer

to be honest, an obese cardiologist is probably worse than an obese trainer in my opinion. if he doesnt respect his own health, …

and it isnt just about advise, or one would be happy with a book or audio tape for working out. trainers are motivators more than anything else. if you just wanted a buddy to hold your hand while you did 10 crunches and moaned into a recovery shake, sure. i dont see how a fat guy can say anything motivational effectively to someone who is fitter than him.

and just coz this is gs and religion rulez, would you pray behind a chronic drunkard just because he’s a hafiz? its not about the book, its about practice.

Re: personal trainer

She is not YOUR personal trainer. You stated your opinion, most of the people differed with you. So lets just move on. Why insist that you ARE right to expect a trainer to be muscle woman.

Re: personal trainer

Its about the services delivered. An obese cardiologist can diagnose your heart condition, can open a blocked artery, can repair a malformed heart with a wire, can revive a dead heart, can put a disorderly heart beat into order. None that can be done by Arnold Schwarzenegger (if I am spelling his name correctly). Trainers not just motivators.

Re: personal trainer

yeah but a healthy cardiologist can do all that, and is less likely to condone indulgent lifestyles and habits. the obese one’d be like.. oh your cholesterol is 210.. big deal, mine is 300 and im alive. go eat a steak <3

Re: personal trainer

If you been working out for a bit, and can not tell good trainer from bad trainer then you have issues with work out your self :snooty:

Re: personal trainer

^Nope, if he condoned that, he will be nonpracticing.

Re: personal trainer

yeah…the logic makes sense but I doubt that such a professional would remain employed with any health institution for very long…

Re: personal trainer

According to this logic.

Muhammad Ali should never have angelo dundee as coach.
Myke tyson should never have cus d’amato.

Re: personal trainer

Did you just join this place? how do you know she wasn’t fit before and suddenly gained weight and is in the process of losing it?

Icon’s post reminds me of this guy:
Fit2Fat2Fit.com ..::..

I would be more inclined to trust someone who’s undergone a transformation of losing a lot of weight/getting fit than…say someone who just had to lose 10 lbs/put on 10lbs of muscle. Not that I disrespect them but it wouldn’t be my first preference.

If you been working out for a bit, and can not tell good trainer from bad trainer then you have issues with work out your self :snooty:

Ive been working out like crazy for about 14 months now and have lost 77lbs. She never trained me but i saw her training others. She was having trouble moving herself plus she had difficulty breathing. But still people are trying to prove me wrong thinking im being judgmental, which is sad.

No ive been workin out ther for 14 months now she is the one who joined recently and i know nothing about her except she has trouble breathing and exercising..

She is not YOUR personal trainer. You stated your opinion, most of the people differed with you. So lets just move on. Why insist that you ARE right to expect a trainer to be muscle woman.

If most of tje people here differed with me that means im wrong?! Im not insisting im just trying to tell you the facts..and as I quoted earlier that fortunately or unfortunately, appearance in this business helps to sell their services… so yess you believe it or not…IT SIMPLY DOES NOT MATTER!

Re: personal trainer

If you were the only client, but apparently there are plenty who will not mind hiring her services. So it simply does not matter what you think.
