It’s not completely understood but the thought is that the contractions effect the bowels so this can cause diarrhea. Combined with the fact that you retain a lot of water during the pre-menstrual and first few days.
I don’t get it but when the contractions are more severe, as soon as I eat I will need to go to the bathroom. Everything gets pushed out.
