Period and washing hair !?

Can you please confirm me the aayat where it says its forbidden. My friend did research on net and she found out that its ok have intercourse if the woman isn’t feeling any discomfort.... coz it can be nasty. I always thought its forbidden.. and now I am confused! :S....... it will be great if you can provide with the Aayat

As for showering, it is good to avoid for first day or two... as body can go in shock.... especially if water is cold. So better avoid.
Women can recite Quran while they are on menses..... someone can place it in front of them...... like another lady member... can they can turn the page with a clean stick.... or a pen pencil, can also turn with a clean cloth.

^Sura 2, Verse 222.

Don't rely on a friend who has done research on the internet (it's as much a place for dis-information as information).

This isn't even a point where you will find scholar's differing in opinion. Some will try to justify it by saying menstruation is a painful time for women, they have loss of libido etc etc. But there is plenty of evidence to suggest that having intercourse actually relieves period pains and many women will admit that libido increases during this time. So, there is no point trying to justify it with science. The Quran tells us to avoid it, therefore it should be avoided. Maybe forbidden is too harsh a word but I would need to ask someone who can read Arabic to shed light on the essence of wording.

  • 002.222 * YUSUFALI: They ask thee concerning women's courses. Say: They are a hurt and a pollution: So keep away from women in their courses, and do not approach them until they are clean. But when they have purified themselves, ye may approach them in any manner, time, or place ordained for you by Allah. For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean. PICKTHAL: They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. Say: It is an illness, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you. Truly Allah loveth those who turn unto Him, and loveth those who have a care for cleanness. SHAKIR: And they ask you about menstruation. Say: It is a discomfort; therefore keep aloof from the women during the menstrual discharge and do not go near them until they have become clean; then when they have cleansed themselves, go in to them as Allah has commanded you; surely Allah loves those who turn much (to Him), and He loves those who purify themselves.
