Hygiene is nisf imaan. Nothing stops us from taking a bath at any time during the period. However, it is a MUST once the period is over.
I personally prefer showers, not baths during that time.

OK ladies false alarm. I asked a few people and did some research doesn't say any such thing. A women is seen as unclean and is not allowed to pray or get up to to hanky panky while shes on her period but once shes off she has to have a bath/shower and shes good to go
Mum said some women believe tht if u have a bath ur hips and thighs will get bigger and u will get air in ur stomach. don't know how much of tht is true but I rather stick to showers to be on the safe side

Its a desi thing and the reasoning behind it is that you retain water (supposedly) if you shower on your period as well as stop your flow.

I can't believe anyone would believe that you can't bathe or shower.
And please don't say that a woman in unclean.. that is such a ignorant thing to say. She cannot pray as she's not paak (the same as if a man was bleeding from a wound, wudu would be broken), however there are differences in opinion. It's obvious why sex is not allowed. But it doesn't make the woman unclean. I'm sure we all know that the Prophet (pbuh) used to rest his head on Aisha's lap and recite the Qur'an during her menses.
You are supposed to supposed to perform Ghusl when your period is over before you start to pray again. Whatever you do the rest of the time is your business but this is required.
I can understand why women in Pakistan may have warded off showering or bathing. Most of the year they wash with cold water and even if it's 40C it's not a good idea to have a cold wash; hot showers and hot drinks help keep period pains at bay. So hot showers or baths all the way!

Your body will retain water... but the water you drink. This is why most women feel bloated and get swollen breasts.

In terms of not being in a state of wudu. Not unclean like dirty.
Just like desi's have all these other crazy superstitions, they also have plenty about women being 'unclean' (dirty) during their period. In certain places, they are not allowed to cook or go near anyone during those days.
I don't think we need to attach words like unclean to it.

When I used the word "Unclean" I meant shes unclean to pray and have sexual relationships. I did not mean tht shes unclean as in dirty.

Ok, I apologise for taking the wrong meaning. Together with your previous post that Islamically women shouldn't bath until their period is over, it was hard to judge that.

I wasn't to sure about tht thts why I said "I think" some one told me tht a long time ago but didn't really question anyone about it at the time and I haven't seen any evidence to prove tht it was true so yea like I said false alarm.
I was watching a Documentary on TV a few weeks ago about people who live in the Himalayas and the women there, have separate quarters in the village while there on there period where they go (women only) and just relax the whole time there on there period without any children.

We can come up with all sorts of theories and reasoning but at the end of the day, they are our own.

only sex is not allowed but kissing etc is allowed and a woman must not expose her self from the navel to the knees .
Ive heard this whole thing about not showering either, but i still do, tho i have noticed that when i shower durinh my periods the flow of my periods is greatly reduced
Yes it is right that ladies should avoid hair washing during menses. The reason is that some ladies having disposition as senstive to cold may face supperession of menses by washing the hairs. Wash you hair when your on your period and take a shower too................I honestly find it hard to believe that there is any truth behind any of this........
its not islamic to not have a shower while having period, but its islamic and a MUST to shower when your period is over to be able to do namaz, i've heard also you should have a hair removal after your period
