Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

The percentage of women holding higher degree is greater. THats for sure and I even read it somewhere...

well somehow you are true. The other day i was having same kind a discussion with my friend and he was saying that he wants someone who should be educated BUT should not be opinionated and should sit at home and thats it.

I was trying to tell him other views but he was so stubborn to accept my perspective and in the end i said then why you wana marry someone who has a degree. just ask your mum to look for some a girl who act as a puppet for you.

There is one thing that i have seen here in Canada among desi guys. They are reluctant to marry girls who have been born, raised here throughout their life. There reason of not marrying 'em is that .. "They know too much" .. lol! .. and i am like "isn't it great, you guys will have better perspective towards life" .

for these guys .. a girl from pakistan who has done bachelor and a girl from here who has done masters. they will choose pakistani girl .. who has never been here ..

an offtopic comment but .. boys always want a dominating life. if a girl is more educated than them or earning more than them .. they certainly have a fear that they would not be able to dominate their partner the way the society or their family has done on other females. Cheap, but true

i read somewhere .. "when a person speaks, you can tell about his/her last 7 pushtein" ...

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

My teacher used to say that .. if you wana know about a person .. judge him at three things

  • when he is angry
  • when he is eating
  • when he is talking

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

The responses are, as usual, depressing.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

^^ agreed!

I think it is better to stay single.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

PCG... how many of us western raised girls are married to nice guys? A lot... a lot of us married to guys who have come across from pakistan.. studied, found their feet and have an aewsome head on those lovely shoulders.

The world isnt that depressing. There are awesome guys out there. Earning well, and not wanting a show puppet.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

I'm talking about Western-born boys vs. Western-born girls. I'm not talking about the superstar overachiever who went to LUMS and then came out to Cornell to do a oncology fellowship.

That population is a tiny minority of what is out there. Most men who try to get out of Pakistan for jobs and academics don't even get out. Their education isn't that great, and if they do get out, they're working gas stations and going to community college while they may have had alright jobs in Pakistan.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

depends. I know quite a lot of guys who came here towards the end of their teens... studied damn hard, worked in all kinds of odd jobs... and have married girls from here. Some, yes have gone back to get married and then moved here permanently with their fams.

And some of these guys are quite lovely. But hey, maybe I am biased cus i am married to such a guy.. infact my really good close friends are as well. And they are all doing Mashallah really really well.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

Again, not a big majority of guys from Pakistan fall into that bracket. Most of them end up in Dubai working in oil companies in the lowest positions, unfortunately, and get abused.

We educated Pakistanis have a misconception that most Pakistanis out there are like us. No. Most of them live in abject poverty that makes our lives look like Donald Trump's existence.

And MOST of the men trying to get out of pakistan are not educated even. If anything they went to public school, funded by the gov't....

pause

bursts out laughing

Right, because the public education in Pakistan is actually "education"....

No PCG you are wrong lot of students come here every year to do their masters then they settle here and do jobs. And after 4 or 5 years when they are bachelors they want to settle down. And trust me since these desi guys have been is US for 4,5 years alone they leave their homes, they survive and it change their minds. They love to cook, they are pretty decent to their wives, humble and they make a good husbands.Reason because when they are bachelors here they learn different things and it open their minds.Consider them fresh out of boats but after 4 or 5 years when they are on good jobs they make a fine gentlemen. My husband came here when he was alone, all his friends came here to do masters from different unis and all of them are happily married. Not even single of them complain about their life. And half of them are married to abcds and half of them are married to desi educated girls.Although some of us are not doing jobs but we don't waste our time on star-plus we do volunteer at school, some of them completing their degrees, some of them doing part time jobs. But atleast I can count I know more them 20 families who are really happily married. And only one of the marriage fall apart and the reason was they guy.And we knew from beginning that this guy is a retard but rest of them are nice and decent people.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

You know 20 people.

And ... how many people leave Pakistan each year?

Right.

ahh PCG if you trust me more then you know.My hubs whole 100 people class is here only 2 or 3 of them are in Pak but at good posts. Anyway you have to look around in different people.I think since you are born here and you are in the class where people came here in 60s and 70s and all those moms were pretty desi ladies. But now trend is changing where I live moms are not like my mum anymore.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

You're still not getting it are you.

100 people class.

that's ONE HUNDRED INDIVIDUALS

Probably from a program at a universtity that places people well out of the country.

for that one program, there are another 20 sham programs across the country that are churning out graduates who will never get out of the country because their degree is that worthless.

And then for all those combined people there are another 1/2 million who would like to have that degree but will never get it.

Amazes me how Pakistanis have such a myopic view of their country. People out there are POOR and BARELY EDUCATED, and NOT REMOTELY COMPETETIVE in the international job market.

The people that are, are the creme of the crop and the upper crust of the country - and those people are all from families that could AFFORD that education.

Even the middle class is facing hardships getting decent degrees now that can help them get out of the country.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

And as we are talking about rishtas, guess which one of those people is knocking on MY door?

Right. The dude from the sham program.

maybe im meeting different kind of people?

Look, i totally get you were you are sauing that most pakistanis trying to get out are not educated... and also agree in regards to teh schooling bit.

But u have to see, a lot of these guys are from unfortunate backgrounds. Some may have been extremely eager to succeed, but family situations have made them seek out other avneues to help may the bills. Help get sisters married. Help pay mortgages. I feel terrible for young guys in these kind of situations. And sadly, i know some very very close to me.

Then you have other rich fondoos.. who do get good schooling in pakistan.. who end up failing and just wasting their parents money... end up with their parents business... and yeah, the circle of life continues for them..

theres anotehr kind... those whose parents have been able to get their kids some decent education. Maybe have tried to get them overseas to get their higher ed... these guys are not from rich backgrounds... maybe from backgrouns where their parents understand the value of educaiton... and there are many many out there.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

PCG, your information is wrong (as usual), so I thought some clarification is needed here.

The US does not issue visas to to potential students, who get accepted to colleges in the US unless:

i) They cant speak/write proper English (They have to pass an English proficiency test)
ii) The college that accepted them is reputed (community colleges etc don't qualify), US immigration is pretty strict about students
iii) They have to show a hefty bank balance and ties to the country. Now even the cheapest reputed schools in the US cost around $20-30 grand per year. So your 'poverty' ridden people cant make it here.

Now if you see certain students working at gas stations and taking classes in community colleges, that's because

i) International students work at gas stations to get some extra cash while in school, totally understandable, and they chose gas stations because they cant work outside campus legally so this is all under the table.
ii) Community colleges; well those 100-200 level electives can be taken at community colleges concurrently and its a lot cheaper and those classes don't really matter anyways.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

Sadzzz,

I think, you are meeting wrong kind of people... IMHO.

Why don't guys who are raised here and born here work half as hard? It would solve like 80% of their problems.

Re: Percent of Educated Boys vs. Educated Girls

And 80% of mine.
