since when are mexicans "really pale"? from my experience, there are a variety of skin tones, just like south asians.

don't complain, i got italian, spanish, arab, iranian, but that's mostly because there aren't many pakistanis where i live, sometimes people tell me they've never met any pakistani before. hmm ok
the most weird thing that happened though is when a black guy started talking to me in his language in the metro, i said really do i look like i speak your language ?
Oh that so reminded me that the place I work at, a lot of people thought I was Iranian for the LONGEST time. I've worked here for like 4 years and a couple of months ago this new girl who was Iranian started and she was like its nice to have another Iranian on the floor and I was like really? Who? And she looked at me... I told my mom and she said its probably because of my name - apparently it sounds very Iranian.

I just get irritated, and iwthout fail it happens at stores, when all I want to do is pay for my stuff and get out, some of them just like to make conversation and, the way they ask is just so creepy.
Lookswise, I would say my face shape, nose, and body structure/figure make me look hispanic....in HS I used to get my eyebrows waxed and I had those really thin arches...in college, I started getting them threaded at Indian/Pakistani salons and that seriously makes a big difference in looks overall.
another thing that makes a difference is wardrobe, obv if you wear ethnic/religious stuff etc, people are less likely to mistake you for being hispanic but if you wear revealing stuff..well... :D
oh also, my nose is pierced and I find whenever I wear a particular nosepin, most people can tell I'm desi.....

What name could you have that could be irani? Most of muslim names are inspired from arabic.

There's another lady who works in the same company who's Irani and has the same last name as me... So I guess that's why.

Lol! by my standards I dress fine (no shorts/sleeveless/low cut) by desi standards...probably so.

i've had people think i'm arab or a latina... yes i'm light for desis.....but i think it has to do with the fact that the city i live in is pretty diverse and full of the hispanic people and middle eastern people with south asians just coming in. so the hispanic population has been there for a couple generations now so since i do have an american accent without being blue eyed/white, hispanics assume i'm one of them.
so i'm just guessing it's b/c you live in a predominantly hispanic minority population where you live with south asians just coming in like moi
