Quran freely finds faults with the ‘people of the book’, jews and Christians. Quran talks of idolaters and criticize their way of beliefs.
But quran does not use words like, hindu/ hind, and it talks nothing of Buddhism.
It could not be a lack of information, because arab traders knew about these existing religions in the east.
Or these religions, hindu and budhhism were not a hindrance like the existing religions of arab area.
exactly! koran revolves only around arab way of thinking and living, arabian dress code, and about religions existing in the pennisula.
It says nothing about hinduism, nothing about buddhism/jainism which were monotheist religions of the subcontinent. Nor does it say anything about vedas. It seems god was not even aware of their existence.
Besides, its totaly blank on other religious beliefs practised in china, south east asia, europe and rest of the world...
I thought Hindus were Idolators?
b'coz they too kiss black stones
yeah, the Quran should have talked about people living in North Pole and South Pole too ![]()
Is there a difference between idolator and Hindus?

so kissing a black stone changes your religion?
Quran talks of Christians and Jews because they were given books by Allah to be followed, but they made so many changes in these books.
Although prophets did come in other nations and they were given some "saheefa" too, but they lacked any book as detailed as Taurah or Injeel.
Christians and Jews had more responsibility also because some big prophets came in their nation. The aim of each of these prophets was to make those people god-fearing. So many prophets did not come in any other nation of the world.
Quran finds faults in Ch and Jews because they should have been the best people in the world after they were guided by so many prophets.
Another reason is that Christians and Jews are considered monotheistic religions, which is not true for idolators of all kinds.
These are some of the reasons why Quran emphasizes more on Christians and Jews, and does not address idolators.

Part of Tafsir:Surah Fathia(Imam Ibn Kathir)
(Not (the way) of those who earned Your anger, nor of those who went astray) meaning guide us to the straight path, the path of those upon whom you have bestowed Your grace, that is, the people of guidance, sincerity and obedience to Allah and His Messengers. They are the people who adhere to Allah's commandments and refrain from committing what He has prohibited. But, help us to avoid the path of those whom Allah is angry with, whose intentions are corrupt, who know the truth, yet deviate from it. Also, help us avoid the path of those who were led astray, who lost the true knowledge and, as a result, are wandering in misguidance, unable to find the correct path. Allah asserted that the two paths He described here are both misguided when He repeated the negation `not'. These two paths are the paths of the Christians and Jews, a fact that the believer should beware of so that he avoids them. The path of the believers is knowledge of the truth and abiding by it
Hindus are idolaters. It's not even considered to be a religion.
Hindus fall under the category of Mushrikeen.
Christians and Jews are People of the Scripture because they were given the Scripture before us, Allah sent Messengers with scriptures to guide other people as well but the other scriptures have been tampered with to such an extent that they are nothing like the original Word of God but the Judeo-Christian scriptures although far from perfect still contain some good things and prophecies of the last Prophet (sallallaho alayhe wassallam) which if read with an open mind can act as a stepping stone towards Islam.
The Koran also talks of the Sabians, I don’t think they lived in the Arabian Peninsula. Today they have become extinct.
Another reason for their mention could be because they were the most recent people prior to us who received Devine Guidance.
A friend of mine says that “aaj duniya mein jo bhi mazaahib paey jaatey hei(n) yeh sab ke sab ussi Deen ki bigrri huwi shaklei(n) hei(n) jo Khudawand nei(n) apne Paighambarou(n) ke zariye se logou(n) ki rehnumai ke liye bejhe thay…”
And I think that’s probably true because even the pagan religions have a few things in common with the truth, like even some Hindu scriptures are against Polytheism and also there was some Pundit a bit ago who said that a reincarnation of some deity that Hindus are waiting for is actually talking about our Prophet (sallallaho alayhe wassallam). Obviously we don’t believe in reincarnation so if what he says is true then the reincarnation bit was added to the scriptures to add a bit of spice.
Anyway Idolater or a person of the Scripture, at the end of the day they are all Kaafir, may Allah guide them all to the truth and make us steadfast upon it, Ameen.

first of all muslimslive as minority in india they cant call majority
community names and expect to live peacefully.youarehurting the
muslims more. why even compalin about gujarat when you encourage so much hatred between both?
It’s not name calling.
We believe that every child, weather born into Hindu, Christian, Jewish or Muslim family is born with the natural instinct of Islam and the belief in one God/Allah and to single only Him out for worship and prayer etc. This is innate in every single child…
…The word Kaafir comes from the term Kaffaara which means to cover up…
…The person who lets destructive environmental factors and whispers of the Satan take control of his way of thinking, his beliefs and actions etc. contradicting his innate natural disposition is covering up the truth which is innate and that’s why they are called Kaafir which literally means ‘Coverer’.
It’s not a swear word or anything, it’s just used to describe non-Muslims.
If there is anyone in the Indian sub-continent who encourages hatred it’s the Hindus, it’s they who practise things like treating those who don’t believe in their religion or belong to their caste as untouchables.
I’ve heard a lot of stories of them before 1947 of treating Muslims as untouchables not eating food made by a Muslim etc. or even touched by a Muslim and even today in some parts of Pakistan shopkeepers leave a clay pot thing full of water outside their shops and the Hindu shopkeepers don’t like Muslims drinking from theirs so they wrap a red cloth around it to tell Muslims don’t drink from it and we don’t because they think we’re dirty or something.
We on the other hand believe that every person is from the progeny of Adam and Eve and the only thing that distinguishes people is true Submission to God and piety.
We are allowed to eat food prepared by the non-Muslims as long as the ingredients are permissible and the person has good personal hygiene etc.
As Muslims we have to be nice, caring, giving and courteous to the non-Muslims as long as they respect Islam.

I don't get what you imply here.
We believe that prophets came in every nation. Hence they must have come among Indians, Chinese, etc. I was trying to explain why Allah still only talks of Ch and Jews.
i dont thinkprophet wanted muslims to fight indians and chinese
or japanese . these ggroups never sough enimity of muslims.
first thing people need simple common sense than dogmatic and
theological views.why saudi care what indian/chinese/japanese do in their county?
I think hindu or budhhist religions were no way a hindrance in the political ambitions of the prophet or the Islamic movement in mideast. Idolaters mentioned in quran are not hindus, but they arab tribals.
Muslims react to such topics very emotionally, there must be some reason.
Rvkz has some point.
Dhulfiq says that every child born in any family is a muslim. Really interesting, then why so much violence against kafirs?
chelaramani, there are only three monotheistic religions (religions recognized by The One, Almighty, Powerful God), and these are Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.

If transportation was as convenient as today, I am sure they would have travelled to China/Japan to pass the message. Islam was not offered to "enemies" of Islam only. Do you read books or just try to come up with ur own?

Did that one and the only one most powerful almighty God himself told you that? Any witnesses?
And if that is true, why is he tolerating hinduism, buddhism, jainism sikhism, zoroastrianism, maitrism which are booming right under his nose?? isn't he almighty enough to run this world on his terms?
