Its so strange.I mean how come everybody needs ‘evidence’ of the most obvious facts about Islam. And when those facts are placed under their noses- they still refuse to acknowledge them?
And how are these people real Muslims, if they demand or disbelief what Islam is all about. To me it’s really ridiculous to go around asking others to provide proof for the most obvious truths of Islam.
btw I’m not saying it’s all the people in religion forum- just some.
I think it is actually very important to provide proof. Too much of what we are taught as "religion" is really simply part of the culture and traditions and lore of the places we grow up. I think it's important for us to be able to sift through what are Allah's words and what are man's creations. If that means asking for proof, I don't understand what's wrong with it. Asking questions is part of learning and understanding.
285 The Messenger believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord, as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His angels, His books, and His apostles. “We make no distinction (they say) between one and another of His apostles.” **And they say: “We hear, and we obey: (We seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys.” **
[Surah Al Baqarah :2 ]
Rasoolulah :saw: said:
"There will be a man with full stomach, reclining on his pillow, who will hear a command from me and say, ‘Let the judge between us (in this matter) be Allah’s Book: we obey whatever we find in it.’ [Know that] indeed, I have been given the Book and, with it, that which is similar to it (the Sunnah).’

You started right off by saying way I consider to be totally wrong. We don't, and are not supposed to question what Allah has revealed to us.I'm not talking about the cultural or traditional beliefs.Im talking about Islam.
The Quran is not just about religion, it reveals a way of life. With Quran and hadith ,we have all the proof we need.Allah knows best - but Allah has given us the religion of Islam. We don't lack anything as far as Im concerned.
You don't question or contradict Islam. If you need to find something out, yes sure ask.But if people refuse to believe whats infront of them -then I think they have no right to go out and question in the first place.
Religion is all about learning. But its never about quesitoning it. People may mix culture with religion, but theres only one Islam. You can go out and learn more about it.But when you're being given the answer, from Quran or hadith- it's pointless to question if it's valid or not.
In my opinion, baal ki khaal nikalnay kay chakkar mein log hadd say hi barh jaatay hein. Sabb ke sabb scholar jo banay phirtay hein. Hamm-nahi-mantay-kar-lo-jo-karna-hai attitude
Another thing is that a lot of questions require some degree of faith and imaan. The essense of Islam is based on faith, about our Creator, the messanger :saw: and the message.
If someone starts off by thinking everything is doubtful and may be incorrect than they will #1 never be able to satisfy themselves and #2 will forever confuse other people too by abstract and vague statements.

I totally agree. Where do I question Islam or Allah's words?
But how people read these verses is different and we need to have an understanding of the authentic texts. We can not just trust one person's analysis and interpretation of them.
It never should be about questioning Islam Faisal. It should be asking and learning about it, if they have questions.
Questions are based on faith and Imaan, but when people question religion, theres no faith or imaan in that.
If people have been given proof from the Quran or hadith- what is the point of still contradicting?I think if people go out to ask questins- they should also have the sense to open their minds up and listen when the answers are being given.
A lot of people who ask questions- already have their own answers fixed in their heads.Seems as if they ask for the heck of it.No matter how much proof is shoved into their faces- they’ll still stick stubbornly to their own views.
So, Are u willing to learn it since u are so sincere about learning Quran?
If u wanna visit NY for some time and just spend few weeks to learn there is a place I know where u can learn enuough arabic to understand quran while reading…

Now you contradict yourself.Im sure I never said you question Islam.
I agree that we need to understand the real meaning of the Quran. But Im sure a scholar can give you that. And no matter what ,we do have all the proof we need in the Quran and Hadith.Thats why we're Muslims in the first place.
We muslims have this habbit of betraying our own religion. We spit in the bowl we eat. I see so many muslims in the religion forum bringing up the MOST DUMBEST questions and they really give a damn about insulting their roots, islam or prophet :saw:. IMO, Muslims in religion forum should unite and answer the non-muslim queries or questions about islam. But most the time what happens is one of our dumbest muslim brother will question the integrity of prophet :saw: or islam or anything that relates to islam. Then what other do is slice that person in half with their comments rather talking to each other in manner that is out side sanity lines. I do the same even worst for those people who show any signs of disrespect to prophet mohammad :saw:.
-Salman
There is a certain degree of faith that goes hand in hand with curiousity. If we don't question it, when people from outside will, we don't have a royal flush in our hands. IMHO, its good to question but its bad to have so much question where reason does not follow and faith does. I'd like to take the approach of curing the disease within so that when I am confronted, atleast I can hold my own than stumble in hot water.
Based on my several years of observing the Religion forum, I can honestly say that there are a fair number of members who post there and ask all sorts of "negative" questions and make vague statements, simply because they have no intention of accepting or understanding Islamic teachings and are merely hiding behind their oft repeated statements that we can not trust anything other than Quran. In this process they not only comfort themselves that they need not live their lives according to Islamic practices but also manage to confuse a lot of other muslims who try to use Religion forum to increase their knowledge. Those people only leave more confused, disoriented and misguided than before.

Exactly my feelings *sigh...
very well put into words... could not have said it better than that ..

Where did I contradict myself?
I agree. The "proof" I meant IS the Quran and Hadith.
I think I misunderstood your original post. If someone says in Islam you are required to do so-and-so, I will ask for proof -- meaning statements from the Islamic texts. Many people speak without considering these -- or twist the words of the Quran and Hadith. That's why I would ask for the direct references. And I always like to know how the person is reading these.
