i dont think there is anything weird about it! you are signing your life away with this pen, so it definitely has some significance. Also, if girls can be so well-prepared and organized in advance, then why not. But I wouldn't spend anything extra on it; its definitely going to be an important pen but not an expensive one, for sure.
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
LOL is it only me who would think of such things as part of clutter
Hubs has kept some memoribilias from our honeymoon and i even think of that as clutter. But i know sometime down the road it will be nice to look at that stuff again. At the same time, i dont want to die and let someone else deal with things i kept and have them cuss me out for that ![]()
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
Wow! that's the great idea, I didn't even know about such things :) It sounds just so lovely.
omg are you kidding me? i'd just buy a two rupee piano pen
or whatever it costs now tee hee
my goodness this post makes me feel sane.
i was feeling guilty cos i spent a long time thinking about my wedding dress.
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
mechanical felt tip pen. :>
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
I was obsessed with the pen issue when I was getting ready for my Nikah. It was such a huge deal to me, especially since I love stationery and pens to begin with. So I got a nice, expensive pen and I had told my dad to keep it with him, but during the Nikah, the maulvi pulled out his own regular pen and handed it to me. My dad was out in la-la land and couldn't have cared less about the the pen issue. I remember at that moment thinking "All that planning and I'm signing with some cheap crappy pen!" I was incensed, but I let it pass.
For my sister's Nikah, I got obsessed with the pen again and made her obsessed with it. It drove my mom crazy, "Who do you think you are, the president signing a peace treaty?" This time, the same maulvi pulled out his Bic, but I interceded and handed my sister the special pen. However when the groom was getting his Nikah done, maulvi sahib beat me to the punch.
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
^ ahahahahaha! you are hilarious!
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
haahah, great story raatkirani.
i never really thought about it before but i guess i will try to remember to keep a nice pen with me. i've always been a bit pen obsessed - always used a fountain pen at school when everyone else was using a biro or something and i always sign my cheques with a nice pen.
so there's no reason why i shouldn't for the nikkah.
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama

Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
^hey now.. i think it has a lot more sentimental value than a lot of the other things we talk about for weddings such as the decorations, or what colour nail polish to wear etc etc
Mine is bound to be PINK!
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
OMG! I also planned the same thing, minus the box but I think its a great idea, especially the engraving part, haha
but I am DEF. going to be saving the pen, dies

Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
You dunno what that pen meant for her. :)
She entered the third phase of her life with it.
I think she is a very very sweet person.
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
MY cousin just got married and i saw pictures from the nikkah and low and behold, it was some regular cheap looking pen, and this thread came to my mind. seriously, couldnt it have at least been a nice metal pen or something? it was a regular bic. i think these little things matter!
Re: Pen for the nikkahnama
...thank god im not the only one...im thinking of getting two pens made when i get married and matching it with mine and my tb hubbys outfits hahahaha i'm actually insane....my wedding is all planned out in my head...just need to get a degree and find a hubby :)
also...while on the topic of being insane...is it weird that i want a fireworks display at my wedding?...my dad thinks so hahaha
:D I talked my fiancee into the whole pen thing. Yes he thinks i am totally insane but has agreed.
OMG I never thought the malvi will pull out his own pen - something else to worry about. I will have to get my brother to have a word.
Fireworks are no insane - I wanted them for my walima but because of the travel distance for my family we have to have it in the day. I am well gutted.
