He is a shady character, but don't ban him. Let him compete in market place of ideas. Isn't this what the democracy is all about?
Shamraz, just for my knowledge purposes, can you please confirm that in west (where freedom of speech and expression are followed religiously), do they not ban / restrict people / channels with shady reporting?

This ban is ridiculous. I saw many talk shows, and only talk show that give proofs, evidences and documents to support what is said in the program is Khara-Sach. But probably that is the reason judiciary, government and political parties do not like this show and ML, as they could not defend themselves and the accusations made on them, because what ML tells in the program are not accusations with evidences to back the accusations, but all accusations are backed by evidences and thus are more or less facts (truth about people's corruption or whatever) ... and these facts take the cloths from many eminent but corrupt personalities who hold high offices off, making them naked in front of entire country.
In west such 'ban' could not have happened .. rather if any programs that would have got banned with fine would have been other Pakistani talk shows where people accuse each other without evidences and proofs ... even those programs are usually not banned, rather, if program shows something without concrete or reliable evidences and proofs ... then those accused can take the TV channel and personality accusing them in the program to court where the person and TV has to provide concrete proofs (what ML already do in his programs) or can get heavy fine.

ML is a shady character but his programs at least the ones that I have watched so far he gives proof evidence and what not.
He is selection of words in his commentary on the featured crime is what I don't agree with.
But hay if its a real democracy it should be scared of people like ML...if its a real democracy.

Well, dirty characters are those who Lie on TV and do corruption. But what can one say .. as some people love these characters ... characters who blatantly lie, talk big and have nothing to show as evidence or proof ... but worse are those who love corrupts and thugs like Zardari, Bhutto, Nawaz, Iftikhar, Shahbaz and so on.

You are so right. Many have lost their jobs and ministries because of ML program (Khara-Sach). Many also lost their names and respect, as they got naked due to Khara-Sach, in front of entire Pakistan.
I think ML (and his program) is good for Pakistan and bad for people who want to harm Pakistan. That is the reason in Pakistani corrupt society, he has many enemies.

I can not speaks for the entire west, but in the US freedom of speech is protected under 1st amendment & the courts have up held it and expanded it. Btw, there is anti gay church called Westboro Baptist Church who blame gays for everything under the sun. One of the thing they do is protest out side of funerals & especially dead soldiers coming back from the wars from Afghanistan and Iraq. Many states passed laws that restricted (not ban) them and how far they must be from the facility, but the US Supreme Court ruled against that.
In the US there is belief that its the unpopular speech that needs protection, not the popular one & I agree with that. I'm not fan of ML, but I would never ask that anyone should be ban from having an opinion & if he is doing something wrong take him to the court. That is what the courts are for.

People are banned because of criminal or illegal behavior.....not based on subjective judgments. Here what we have is a subjective judgment. PMLN has a history of muffling media voices if they go against them. Check out Hamir Mir's interview where he states how Nwaz Sharif told him to resign back in 1997.

ML tells people what corrupts and thugs, be they in judiciary, bureaucracy, politics, or business, like to hide. Worse is that, he also show documentary evidences of what he says. Result for corrupts are gruesome and they all hate him. Court also hate him, because ML show their corrupt faces in public.
For instance ... Court law says that a judge should not take a relative case for hearing, rather judge should leave such hearing on other judges.
Nevertheless, a judge of high judiciary (Justice Jawad a khawaja) took up case of Jang (GEO) owner (Mir Shakeel-ur-Rahman) for hearing, when Jawad Khawaja and Shakeel-ur-Rahman are related. Mubashir Luqman appealed that Khawaja should not hear the case, but he insisted saying that even when they are related, he do not consider that Shakeel-ur-Rahman is related to him. ML started program mentioning what happened and what Jawad Khawaja is doing.
Now you can see why Jawad Khawaja would not like Mubashir Luqman ... and same is true about many other judges. ... and is also true about many politicians, bureaucracy, police, businessmen ... etc ... whom ML exposed on TV with evidences.

a few journalists have gone to jail here for hacking peoples phone and listening to their messages or reading their texts.
