Pearls

Re: Pearls

i think pearls look really elegant paired with a nice saree, not heavy silk or bright printed ones, but a pretty simple chiffon or chantilly lace saree.

A vintage French chiffon saree lined with pure silver gota paired with five strings of south sea pearls.

Lime and strawberry come together in becoming fashion, set off by embroidery and a string of pearls.

Re: Pearls

I think pearls always look so elegant, but I'm probably biased because my mother wears them a lot & she's elegant ;D She has a lot pearls, but one set is a particular favorite - a pale pink pearl set (strand, earrings & bracelet) that she wears a lot. We were at a dholki recently & she wore it with a pale pink phulkari suit, which had different shades of cream & pink & peach for the kaam.

I have a double strand which is made up of shades of dark gray & blue & black pearls - it always looks good with a plain dark silk crepe or chiffon sari.

That sounds so pretty! Can just visualize it!

probably my favorite pearls piece EVER! would make a wonderful valima set iA.

Re: Pearls

I love my pearls! I purchased a pair of pearl earrings last year and wore them so much that my fiance got me a whole set (pearl earrings, pearl bracelet, pearl necklace).

I usually wear mine when I want to add a little something to an outfit but want it to remain quite subtle. It adds elegance in my opinion. I like to keep thing simple so will tend to wear my pearls with quite simple outfits, both western and desi. I also think they look better with certain colours of clothing - pastel colours, nudes, pinks, navy blue etc.

Re: Pearls

Love pearls! My mom got me pearl studs set in 24K gold, totally beautiful and elegant. Anyone know how much a strand of pearls would cost?

M, the cost of pearls can vary considerably according to the size, luster, color (dyed colors are cheaper, natural color prices depend on the rarity), shape, clasp, etc. and also type of pearl (cheapest - freshwater, then Akoya, Tahitian, most expensive are South Sea)

Take a look at this site http://www.pearlparadise.com/ - they have a huge selection at reasonable prices, you can look to see what you like in your budget & color/length/style preferences.

Re: Pearls

Oou, thank you!^
I checked out the site and they can go from anywhere from $250-$10,000.
