And what do you think the coach is doing “behind the scenes”??? He’s the person holding all the threads via which the captain makes its moves. Or do you think he’s one idiot person who is hired just to get a lavish salary while captain does it all??
I know what Imran Khan says but that’s not the modern cricket is based on. Do you know how crutial the role of aussies coach is, in their entire series of success?? Thats why I gave the example of srilankan cricket which blossomed out of nowhere in 96. If you see the 2011 final again, you’ll hear how all the cricket experts dedicated the success of India to the coach Kirsten. Yes, dhoni was a part of that machinery, an important part playing a very crucial role but behind all what happens lies the coach’s planning.
And who do you think should be blamed for not taking the final power play in the quarter finals v/s India?? Its the damn coach not the captain. It was his responsibility.
And that’s why instead of beating the same drum, you should talk to any of the persons from the country who have success due to their coaches. When you are ready to give them blame for the failures, you should also be ready to assign them the due authority. Thats all!
