Saleem Jaffar bechara.. His career was finished after Pakistan's defeat in the WC 87 against Australia by 18 runs - Saleem Jaffar giving 18 runs in his last over and pakistan came short of exact same amount of run... Batsmen could not do it, Saleem had to go :D

Actually, Jaffar played test cricket for Pakistan into the early nineties and was fairly successful. He may have played ODIs after the 87 WC too but I am not sure off hand. He was an excellent pacer in his time but always had fitness problems and was not successful with the team politics at the time.
This is very wrong, why should the selection committee choose the playing 11 on home tours, I don't like the idea at all, this should be left alone on the team think tank, coach(s) captain and team senior players, only a consultation/ opinion by the selection committee should be passed on.
I think Sallu is a great choice as chief selector. He is highly respected by the players aswell. I think i heard that in one of the interviews conducted by mani

Sallu is a typical lota....3 weeks ago he was on all the TV networks blasting Nasim Ashraff for being a doctor who thinks he can run the PCB...calling for his resignation blah blah blah....next thing you know...Sallu has disappeared from the Networks and is a part of the PCB evaluation committee...interesting...next thing you know he's back for his 100th stint as Chief Selector. This not only proves that Sallu, like most of the ex-players is a total lota and hypocrite who thinks the PCB is full of jerks when they themselves are not offered jobs, yet as soon as the same PCB they blast on tv - gives them a job...they run like a bunch of puppys and fall into line accordingly.....pretty pathetic.
As far as Sallu's qualifications as Chief Selector are concerned...he's had the job many times before and hasnt done jack...so I dont see any change this time around either.
Yeah I remember that match (1987 WC Semi Final) very well Imran Khan took 2 or 3 wickets (all bowled incl. Steve Waugh) in the penultimate over of the game. It was either miscalculation or stupidity on Imran’s part to give the last over of the semifinal to an inexperienced bowler like Saleem Jaffer. Pakistan lost quick wickets as usual(3-38), Javed Miandad and Imran Khan (as they did in 1992 WC Final) rescued Pakistan again with a solid partnership of 112 but then Imran was wrongly adjudged caught behind by Dickie Bird and although Miandad tried his best, the match was over when he was bowled by Reid for 70
^ Yeah but remembering this mistake, he bowled the last over of the 1992 Semi final against NZ himself....and then every one was saying that he should not have kept the last over for himself as he had a bad shoulder injury.
Do you remember how many runs he gave then?...
I remember atleast 15 runs in the last over then.

So true. Martin Crowe deposited him to all corners of the ground.
